i literally can't play the game
so basically when i finish the tutorial the screen goes black, and then the game crashes. and then when i reopen the game i have to do the tutorial again and it becomes a repeating cycle. i know the game is good, but i literally can't even experience the game.

Someone filed a audio complaint against me on my youtube channel saying its copyrighted but its just the regular sound effects and start screen music. I've seen so many other youtubers play it and none of them removed the audio from the game so im very confused right now

I do reccomend this game, as it is good. The main issue with it is that it's not as updated as the itch.io game, you can't ask about the hat of some characters and that some characters descriptions from the beta version are no longer applicable, such as Mccloy Rudboys always wearing a hat. Also kinda sad that the characters descriptions have dissapeared. But these are more personal things and can seem kinda nitpicky. The game is still good afterall!

Time Played: ~40.7 hours | Status: Still playing Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5) This game is creepy, clever, and surprisingly emotional for something that seems simple at first glance. You play as a doorman in a 1950s-style apartment building, checking IDs and spotting doppelgängers pretending to be real tenants. Sounds easy? It's not. What makes That’s Not My Neighbor so special is the slow, eerie tension it builds. The music, the soft grainy art style, the little details in each resident—it all comes together perfectly. And the doppelgängers? Genuinely unsettling. I found myself second-guessing everyone, even the ones I knew were safe. What I loved: The retro aesthetic is so clean and immersive. The mechanics are simple but satisfying. It's scary, but not jumpscare-scary—more like, “Wait, did their eye just move?” scary. Every decision matters. One wrong choice and... Small warning: It gets intense if you're sensitive to uncanny/creepy things, but it's totally worth it. Overall: That’s Not My Neighbor is a unique indie horror gem that doesn’t rely on gore or noise to scare you—it uses your own doubt. 10/10 would trust the wrong person again.

Its a fun game! The new update was crazy! And i love the custom mode! But it would be so good if you could add your own dopplegangers! How there appearence looks like and if the ID is incorrect and ect. I hope you add this feature in the game!

Personally LOVED the older version, it had the better functions, and features that aren't in the game currently. The game is alright, but overall it lacks features i used to help myself. Like the feature that shows you what they usually wear, Newer users or old returning users may not know that one of them usually wears a hat. And i missed called 1122, and I wish nightmare mode was here aswell. this version is alright, solid 4.5/10, but it feels like a rough draft rather then the original having more features.

That’s Not My Neighbor is a masterfully crafted indie horror game that transforms the quiet monotony of a doorman's job into a tense, paranoia-driven nightmare. Set in an alternate version of 1955, the game casts you as a building's security officer tasked with verifying the identities of tenants in a world overrun by dangerous shape-shifting doppelgangers. What begins as routine paperwork quickly evolves into a psychological game of deduction, fear, and consequence. The eerie blend of horror and bureaucracy creates a fresh, unsettling experience that keeps players on edge from start to finish. Each visitor to your desk brings a new dilemma. You're required to cross-reference their documents—name, apartment number, ID photo—with records to determine whether they're who they claim to be. The doppelgangers are sophisticated and unpredictable, sometimes betraying themselves with only the smallest inconsistencies: the wrong eye color, a suspicious smile, a nervous hesitation. What makes this loop so engaging is that there's rarely a clear answer. Your success relies on attention to detail, memory, and intuition rather than luck or brute force, making every encounter feel like a high-stakes gamble. The tension is heightened by the game's atmosphere. The retro black-and-white aesthetic, minimal but evocative animation, and ominous sound design combine to create a creeping sense of dread. The scratchy whir of the typewriter, the distant hum of machinery, and the unsettling silence between knocks at your door all contribute to the oppressive mood. The arrival of a doppelganger—signaled sometimes by their offbeat behavior or the unnatural way they speak—delivers a jolt of fear that’s far more effective than any jump scare. It’s the kind of horror that lingers, psychological and slow-burning. Gameplay remains grounded in simple mechanics, yet it deepens with each passing day. The campaign structure sees you progressing through a week on the job, each day introducing new complications, characters, and clues about the wider world. Decisions accumulate, influencing not just your immediate success but the potential endings you’ll see. There's an ever-present question of trust—not just in those who stand before you, but in your own perception. Multiple endings add replayability, and the growing lore hints at something much larger and more sinister unfolding beyond your desk. Additional game modes increase the challenge and replay value. Nightmare Mode introduces more subtle and twisted impostors, and Arcade Mode shifts focus to score-based performance under time pressure. A recent update even adds custom character creation, allowing players to inject their own designs into the roster of tenants. Despite the relatively short runtime of individual sessions, these features extend the game’s lifespan and offer plenty of reason to return. Each mode demands sharper instincts and faster decision-making, pushing your memory and judgment to the limit. While the Steam version trims down some of the content from the original itch.io release—most notably removing character trait descriptions that added texture to each tenant—the core experience remains intact. Some players may miss these deeper personality quirks, but the tradeoff is a sleeker, more intuitive interface that makes the gameplay loop more accessible to a wider audience. It's a slight compromise, but the tension and depth are still very much present. That’s Not My Neighbor succeeds because it makes the ordinary feel dangerous. It forces you to question what you see, to doubt your judgment, and to weigh the cost of every decision. It’s a game about observation, intuition, and fear of the familiar, wrapped in a deceptively simple package. Whether you're letting someone into their apartment or barring a possible threat, every click carries weight. For players drawn to deduction games with a horror twist, it offers an unforgettable experience that’s both clever and chilling. Rating: 8/10
