It's got a little bit of jank, but I am having a ton of fun with it. There's a lot to explore and do.
I've seen some people complaining about the pirates. Yeah, they can be a pain. I thought that that fans of this genre would adapt more, as that's usually a requirement for these kinds of games? I don't mean to make light of other people's difficulty, it just confuses me a little.
It's not that hard to tier up in this game, especially the more you explore. Hardest tiering up is at the very beginning and for the endgame gear, but that's par for the course. I do wish the armor of suits was a little higher, though. Weapon improvements feel good, as the damage increase is usually significant. There's a lot of weapons, so it's easy to find the kind that fit your playstyle. Mods are plentiful and easy to use with a modding bench.
If you go somewhere and get wrecked, then make note of the level of that system and go somewhere lower level. The game is about exploring, crafting, and trial and error. If you worry about dying, that's what saving and loading is for.
You can easily teleport to your ship and that your vehicle can be very helpful. There are already a lot of portals that you can use, as well as being able to make your own to return to places (such as different bases). Plus, the little robot's find an ore feature is incredibly useful. Remember to upgrade it's equipment. Using that and your own scanner to find hidden ores makes me wish these features were in more games.
You can also take apart houses and such that you find throughout worlds for metal blocks. That really strengthened my base and made it look better.
There's a lot of quality of life for the genre that the devs put in this game. If there's something you don't like, it's very easy to install mods from nexusmods (or make your own). I've really enjoyed it as a whole, so I wanted to add some voice to the people that recommend it.
Things I hope they add/do at some point (even if it is dlc): More underwater stuff (creatures/things to find or collect/underwater vehicle (especially). An easier way to make your own ship. Make it a little easier to sell a lot of your items. A way to make your own settlements would be nice.

Is there jank? Yes. Is it game breaking? Not in any of the instances I encountered it. Mechanics for building and crafting are fairly intuitive. No forced multiplayer nonsense either. Found it enjoyable, which is odd for me as I classified this as a "kid's game". I didn't find the visual style distracting or the "chibi" character models too annoying, as the game play kept me occupied.

When you first see the game, you think: Cool, a bastard child of Minecraft and NoManSky. But it quickly becomes clear that it's just a rip-off. Both of these games are great in their own way. Cubic Odyssey never comes close to its role models.
After a few hours, it becomes clear that this game consists solely of mindless grinding. The story itself is a joke and only exists to let the player run around for hours on empty planets with the same POIs. Great, there are 50 different types of ores, gems and stone, just as many types of grass, sand, and wood, cluttering up your small inventory.
Mining is absolutely worthless. If you clear a pirate outpost – which takes about 2 minutes – you get 10 times more ore than if you mine for 5 hours. However, it's only low-level stuff. Later, if you want to upgrade your gear, you have to grind for hundreds of hours to craft it. Or you rely on your luck to randomly loot something good somewhere. But that takes just as long.
The achievements are mostly designed for endless grinding. You'd have to be a masochist to complete them all. Besides, if you're a completionist but play alone, you're screwed. There's a multiplayer achievement. Stupid design. There are a lot of players who prefer or exclusively play alone, and for them, 100% is unattainable.
The world and space are absolutely monotonous. Once you've seen one planet or solar system, you've seen them all. No variety at all—only the colors are different.
The ship-building mode is really cool at first. Then you realize that you can't build anything permanent. You can modify existing spaceships, but as soon as you repair them, they completely revert to their standard model. What nonsense is that?! On top of that, even in the biggest ships, you can only install a handful of workbenches and crates, so you have to constantly swap them out.
The enemies are either cannon fodder or overpowered. There's no balancing.
Performance is okay so far. However, the FPS drops below 10 as soon as you open your inventory or a chest—no matter how much or what's inside.
Save your time and money. Play the originals instead. I don't recommend it.

Bought to play co-op but game is too buggy. Invisible enemies, unkillable enemies, crashes, progress not saving when your the joiner to a game and quests not syncing up so all players must do every quest on their own.
My review will change only after the game is fixed up.

I don't leave a lot of reviews because.... I'm not very social? Not very opinionated? Lazy? Definitely one or more of those. But this dev team deserves a review for how much I've enjoyed this game so far. As others have said, its basically like No Man's Sky, recreated in Minecraft. Which makes it basically my perfect game. It could do with the patches and updates that, to be fair, it regularly gets, but polishing aside it's a great game. Well balanced, fun, looks good, plays well, plenty to do and explore. Really looking forward to seeing how far it can go! Please, I'm begging you devs, stick with it, this game could be an all-time great!

If you're looking for a minecraft-like game with space exploration, then this is it. It has some flaws(co-op is working but a lil rough), but they're being actively fixed. It's a diamond in the rough, and I'm mainly posting this review to counter some of the negative after 40+ hours crowd.
-Multiplayer needs more work
-Still a few crashes here and there
+/- can be grindy, but overbearingly so to level certain perks
+looks good even on my lower end pc
+satisfies that minecraft/no man's sky feel
+devs are actively fixing the game bugs, and nuances while talking to the community
+has a good tutorial
If you're on the fence about this game but still sort of interests you, then I recommend maybe waiting a lil and coming back to check on it. Otherwise, it's in a decent state(especially for solo), and worth it.

Bought the game based on it being complete and fixed. it's out of early access which is the time frame to fix most issues. Let me emphasis on this. It is the time frame to fix most issues and be finished.
We've experienced these problems:
Random crashes that have no player visible causes.
Having died as a Host I lost a stack of 17 T3 batteries on the 3rd planet for no reason at all. Guest lost his Light Crystal upon death once. Both are important items. Battieries needed for practically everything to work (running, jetpacking, shooting, etc). Light Crystal needed for main quest objective.
Encountered enemies that only the guest in the multiplayer session could see.
Encountered indestructible enemies that only the Host could kill. Fun times when paired with invisible enemies.
Encountered enemies that are indestructible to Guest. They would take no damage, but actually are. They only die after Host sees them. Thankfully not encountered invisible versions of these ones.
Not being told how to initiate a light strike (a main quest requirement). Always great when a game doesn't explian itself well enough. We eventually guessed it was to be used from our hotbar. The Guest tried to get close to the target of this 'light strike', but died in the process which deleted the item from their inventory. They flew back to the second planet to make another one, but for some reason their quest advanced, meanwhile mine still stayed on trying to make use of this "light strike". When I attempted it I got right into the face of the target, used it and the item just vanished with no effect, and no quest update.
Guest being able to teleport out of, but unable to teleport to a town that used to be called a Pirate Outpost 2 on the second planet. We only discovered these pirate bases became friendly towns after freeing on up out of curiosity. As Host I had no issue teleporting to and fro.
Hover vehicles love grinding along the ground when going up slopes. They also like ducking under trees, which forces them upwards making them get stuck or jankily grind through them. My favorite aspect is how hover bikes love to float in the air far above the ground when not ridden if they are close to trees or walls. /feel the sarcasm.
Guest is unable to progress with their multiplayer played character in their own game even though they are able to save the multiplayer game. When trying to do so they are reverted back to what their character was when they had left their game. The Guest had read elsewhere if they were to save their character after a multiplayer session in their own game it would nerf their character in the Hosted multiplayer game session.
As Host there's an occasional stopping with walking and running. Not pausing. The character just stops walking/running as if they'd hit an invisible wall.
As host occasionally "falling" happens where it appears the game forgets there is sold ground underneath the player character.
I am sure there are more problems others have found. I cannot be bothered to keep playing this wreck for the time being. Not sure how these problems can be missed in testing. To top it off here are a few gameplay mechanics worth mentioning that may not be to a player's expectation:
[Solo/Multiplayer] Every NPC is silent. They make no sounds when attacks, nor moving. This lead to many instances of taking damage with no knowledge what was causing it, nor where it was coming from. Bazookas/rocket launchers on NPCs compound this problem, especially if near/in your base.
[Solo/Multiplayer] If a crafting station takes any amount of damage, it is rendered unusable until repaired. This is very bad when a chest takes any amount of damage as the contents are inaccessible until it is repaired. Neither of these can be picked into inventory if damaged, either.
[Multiplayer] Quests obtained by NPCs are not shared to all players. NPCs don't even provide the same quests to all players. We could talk to the same NPC and each of us is provided a different quest. So much for co-op.
[Multiplayer] Main Quests are by individual basis. Each person needs to do their own Main Quests to keep up. Again, this doesn't lead to a great co-op experience having everyone do everything on their own. Only one person should need to do this and this can come in various forms. One kind of method is needing all players to be together to make the progression take effect. You see this in games such as Forever Skies, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
There are two bad ways to go about this. One is having each player do everything on their own. Another is allowing players to complete important aspects regardless of distance. First one isn't a co-operative structure and is tedious. Second one cause people to miss out on things.
[Multiplayer] Stores are instanced, meaning each person has their own limited pool of items to sell and buy. Yes, stores provide limited service rather than an unlimited resource collection/dump. No a bad idea, but instanced isn't co-operative play aligned. Vehicles, much like Quests are also randomly instanced. So one person might see one type of vehicle to buy, while another may see a completely different one. Still not seen any vehicles/spaceships that carry more than one player. Each player has their own transports. Less co-operative, and more solo structured.
I wish there were legal repercussions selling an unfinished product as a finished game. Steam should remove this game from the store until it is done, and refund everyone who bought it. This is unacceptable from a business standpoint. It is unacceptable from a customer standpoint too.
This game needs work. A lot of work to function. Hold off from buying it until a year or 2. Find yourself something better elsewhere in the mean time that provides better value. This game is not a unique, one of a kind thing, so don't feel like you are missing out on anything not playing it yesteryear. Or throw money to these people to support bad practices. Always great to have those that want to be part of the problem, then whine about how something fails to be great. Well aware I just gave them money too which I really wish I didn't.
This review is definitely going to draw in the trolls, and people that throw (clown emoji) points my way. Goodluck to those unhelpful human beings.

Great as a single player game but co-op is good. Basic features are missing from co-op:
1. If a player joins you and their game crashes it won't save and all of their progress made will be lost.
2. Host player can have multiple hover vehicles but one 1 out at a time meaning you can't share your extra vehicles with other people.
3. No way to gift vehicles to players
4. Doesn't seem to be any easy way for another player to get inside your space ship except for landing it at a designated landing pad in a city
5. Even when another player gets inside your ship they can't access your chests AND there is no way for them to fly around with you, they will NO CLIP right out of your space ship!
6. No way to set co-ownership or permissions for vehicles and space ships
7. Number 5 and 6 means to effectively play co-op both players have to progress in their own world to unlock things otherwise you can't really travel around together effectively in a co-op session.
If they fix CO-OP then this game would be amazing. It's marketed sort of like Minecraft meets No Man's Sky but really it is a lot more like Portal Knights mixed with No Man's Sky. Game has potential just needs more fixes to co-op.
