This game is pretty meh. Nostalgia goggles aside, there's not enough depth to it. Although, I guess that's the nature of these mid-2000s arcade games. Don't expect a masterpiece.

I will preface this by saying that I played many hours of both FF1 and FF2 as a child, and recently picked up 1 again from Xbox Arcade I think the main thing for me is just disappointment. I see so many reviews talking about the nostalgia, which is why I picked it up. I was very excited to find the first one, and the second one was what I remembered about the franchise: a treacherous, pitch-black seafloor battle with cuttlefish that spat ink at you and dashed away, but upon playing it, it was not that. My memory is to blame for my disappointment, but I remember this game being a lot cooler than it was. Maybe it was much cooler, when I was 8, but I chose to try and relive my nostalgia, the illusion was unfortunately shattered The game adds a story mode, which is kind of interesting but doesn't really need to exist in a game like this. The gameplay is frustratingly precise, and maybe there's a way to zoom out a bit but the screen was just so small and swimming around to find fish was often interrupted by swimming into the large hitbox of a bigger fish who would immediately slurp me up. To be fair, this game is $5 and I think it's worth that, but I just was personally let down by my nostalgic expectations.

I'm glad to be able to play this game again, here on Steam; thanks for making this childhood game available for me to play, thank you very much! By the way, I know this game is very very very old and maybe will never be updated with new features and stuffs, but, I think this will adds another excitement to the game when you play as the alien fish, you fight the protagonist fishes instead; that butterfly fish and his friends; whether because for a revenge or they ended up being the actual villain and stuff; this could be another fun way to enjoy the game more. It's just an idea; I know the game will never be updated to have such kind of feature, it's a good game nonetheless; very nostalgia; and the alien fish eventhough as the villain in the game; it have it's own adventure too.

Childhood game, eating fish to grow bigger, recommended!

Game was extremely fun and very addictive! It's my first time to play this game and I was hooked up already!

Absolutly Gold era, totally worth 5 euros. Maybe put the first one on steam as well.
