After playing The Corn Maze from Wild Wizard Studios I found that it serves as a remarkable homage to the basic but scary horror games from the past. If you ever played the classic Slenderman game, The Corn Maze serves as a spiritual successor to Slender: The Eight Pages by combining elements of tension, exploration, and survival mechanics into an intense horror experience.
The premise is straightforward but effective: The dark and creepy corn maze traps you as you navigate with just your flashlight's dim light. Your goal? Survive by gathering batteries and compasses to escape the maze while evading the threatening blue cone-headed creatures that pursue you from the shadows. The combination of sound design and restricted visibility creates intense suspense which keeps you constantly on edge while each path in the maze presents a chance for a thrilling confrontation.
I had the pleasure of meeting the solo developer behind Wild Wizard Studios at Vincon 2025, and it’s inspiring to see such a passionate creator already launching games on Steam. As a solo developer Wild Wizard Studios has created The Corn Maze which stands as a remarkable accomplishment and they are developing Fry Day which puts players in control of an old farmer battling waves of angry chickens in a top-down shooter experience. My preview of Fry Day revealed that it will be an arcade-style experience that blends humor with intense action.
The Corn Maze comes highly recommended to anyone who loves indie horror games. The Corn Maze demonstrates how simple concepts can produce exceptional horror experiences when properly executed. I can't wait to see what new projects Wild Wizard Studios develops!

Its not bad, maybe add a choice between a flashlight and a torch. Possibly make the aliens a little more realistic but otherwise I recommend this game for those like enjoy mazes

I had an amazing time playing this game, I ended up gifting this to my buddies because I wanted them to experience this as well. It was a great game and I had fun Easter egg hunting with them. I can't recommend this game enough as a fun horror experience. An impressive feat for such a new developer and in such a quick amount of time.

Intended to be a horror maze game, realistically a high school game project finished in a week. Incomplete, lackluster, and below standards of any popular horror game out there.

A very elementary maze game which is definitely not worth its value for a PAID Steam game, let alone this game is not even worth the time spent for a F2P game. Even with the spring sale, I regret purchasing this game. It definitely needs better graphics and HUD, better soundtracks, and there needs to be more content in a fun way to be worth its price tag. The game is very boring, especially after the hour mark. There’s no reason to touch the game anymore after completing it. Somehow this game is even worse than those free horror games you can play on your web browser, plus web browser games don’t require large downloads and you can load into them in seconds with a fast internet connection. There’s more popular and fun ones both on your internet browser and on Steam, so this game is a downgrade in comparison.
To give some examples, Slender Man was playable as a free online web browser game, even over the past decade or two. Also, games that are purely not horror but have co-op or PvP are miles ahead of this junk. Given this game is released in late-2024, it really is worse than games released way back then. To perfectly describe it, this game feels like an incomplete Garry’s mod “horror” project done in a week, rather than a complete and polished game on Steam. I honestly was doubting myself if this is even a game in the first place.
I did see that the other reviews were in account of the developer’s inexperience in releasing games on Steam and lack of time, but to be honest, if you’re not competent and old enough, you should not release games on Steam. Taking more time to develop more experience towards game development and releasing higher quality products later on is definitely better than releasing a low quality game and spending less time to release more low quality games. And as WW, who is quite an inexperienced game developer, one should have taken the criticism and improved his game, but it seems like WW refused to do so and is moving onto developing a different game. Again, great for developing games at a young age and trying to get experience, but publishing products like this on Steam will definitely get you criticism, and not reflecting on criticism and providing constant updates to improve the game sounds like you’ve given up on this product. Sucks that a product of a maze horror game had wasted potential with an inexperienced and careless developer who does not want to constantly take the time to improve his project and decided to abandon it to move onto a different project. Avoid this game if possible.

Awful game. Movement feels like being bound to a wheelchair. Graphics are low quality and the setting feels artificial. Not many options to explore in the maze either. Enemies feel awkward and non-intimidating. Do not recommend.

Note: This is an honest, constructive, and unbiased review of the game. Nothing about the developer itself, how many hours were taken to develop this game, will be taken into account for this gameplay review. As always, it’s advisable to read high quality reviews and watch and review gameplay footage online before purchasing any game.
I’ve played multiple horror games, including the most known ones such as Outlast, Outlast 2, Dead Space, FNAF, Dead by Daylight, Soma, Resident Evil, Slender Man: The Eight Pages, Granny etc., so I was looking forward to trying out new horror games. However, after playing this game for hours, I was utterly disappointed with the result of this game, which does not even come near the results of the top performing horror games on Steam.
The game is incomplete and unfinished. There needs to be a lot more features than just exploring a corn maze with a semi-working flashlight and a compass. One major proponent the game is missing is being able to adjust the difficulty of the game. It should have adjustable difficulty settings, where easier difficulty settings offer a more friendly horror experience with weaker and slower enemies, while harder difficulties offer a more rigorous horror experience designed for more experienced players and more difficult enemies to avoid. Additionally, when the enemies are rather impossible to avoid due to the movement speed of enemies, there should be interactable hiding spots in the maze to hide from them, to avoid line of sight and to create distance between them.
To add some small details, objects like batteries should be more interactive, by being able to pick them up by clicking a button such as E or LMB after facing your camera towards it instead of auto picking them up after walking over it.
There also needs to be a lot more elements to the game such as interactable objects. If you’ve ever played Granny or Outlast before, there are a lot of interactable objects, such as objects to slow down enemies such as Granny, or even being able to ride elevators to change the setting. Just being a dark corn maze doesn’t really add much of a horror element to the setting. There also needs to be a switch between light and dark, by adding bright indoor areas, which can also feel horrific and scary by adding details in the gameplay setting.
Additionally, having an alternate setting (such as an indoor setting to the maze) will help with the horror aspect of this game. To some people, being trapped inside a dark asylum building is more frightening than being outside. Being just pitch black outside with just a small amount of light doesn't make it "horrific", you actually need to add horror details such as theme details for it to have a good horror element.
Additionally, the movement is clunky and poorly optimized, even for gaming desktops with reasonable to good specs: CPU Intel 13400, RAM 32GB, RTX 4070, Samsung Odyssey (32 inch) QHD Gaming Monitor 165 Hz. The gameplay is slow even with high end settings, and rotating the camera causes slowness and lag, which is frustrating for a gamer experience, which rather expects a smooth and clean performance.
The UI is terrible: most fonts like the settings are written in Bold Arial font, and it feels not enticing at all to any horror gameplay. The red bloody font in the title looks alright, but it’s unnatural to the theme of the gameplay, which rather appears to be a simple horror game in contrast to the bloody red font of the game.
The antagonists were rather boring and unsurprising. Apparently Grilick is supposed to follow you like the game description says, but I’ve also walked back and forth around and he hasn’t even appeared, and even if he did, he doesn’t really look scary and frightening. Also, these aliens are like the least intimidating creatures ever.
On top of this, there is no gameplay plot or story that is even relevant to this game, no theme or horror whatsoever, just rather a boring corn maze that can be completed in under 4 minutes. On top of this, paying $4 for gameplay which can be completed like this is an absolute waste. This is coming from someone who has bought multiple horror games and spent hundreds of dollars on Steam, and I cannot say buying this game is worth it by any means.
While I do want to support the developer of this game and continue playing it, there hasn’t been any major changes to the game after several weeks, only minor fixes to performance issues and crashes. In the end, this game is a waste of time for those who want to have a thrilling and frightening horror experience that they can remember or cherish, since this gameplay quality is terrible compared to other games, and not enough effort has been made to improve the game in terms of quality.
