It's a fun roguelike shmup, with a bit more of a grind than I'd like. I dig the graphics, and the gameplay is satisfying enough. But due to how long it takes to really get anywhere I'm not too inclined to keep going after just a bit over 30 minutes. I liked it though. No regrets.

Playtime: 44 minutes
Currently as of writing this review, I have about 40 minutes of playtime, so my opinion may change if I play the game more. Also, if the developers are interested in how I came about the game, I found it on the forums of the love2d.org site. This game is a 2D action-roguelike. It features many types of enemies, and you can earn experience points which in-turn lets you get different upgrades for your ship, however, if you die, these upgrades are gone. With credits earned in-game, you can buy upgrades that last for your entire play-through. What the game did right: I actually really like the art in the game, although not unique it has had a lot of effort put into the sprites and graphical polish which gives that 'actiony feel' while not being overwhelming and annoying to look past. The choice of the types of enemies and upgrades, I feel has also had a lot of effort put in and are fairly balanced, and the enemies are actually really fun to attack. Now, the game isn't perfect, and so there were a few things I did not like about the game. Firstly, the overall balance of the game is fairly bad. The price of the main upgrades that stay between runs scales way too quickly, I found myself doing good in a run, then getting maybe 200 credits which doesn't even cover a single upgrade, then on my best run, I earned 2000 credits, which equated to two upgrades at that point in the game. That, and the fact that each run isn't really unique enough, made me bored pretty quickly. Now, the elephant in the room -- the sounds. I honestly hated the music, it didn't feel like it fit with the game and never got more intense given an appropriate situation for that, and (being quite nit-picky), I can't stand the few tracks that have horrible sound-quality. It was obvious that music was not made for the game, and was instead found in a random corner of the internet. Outwith the music, the sounds were actually pretty good, mimicking those retro sounds found in most 70s-early 80s games. They were a bit loud and piercing at times, but I didn't find that to be much of a problem. Overall, considering this is (presumably) the developers first commercial product, it was good, not amazing, but certainly a time-passer for those 40 minutes I played. I hope to see the music issue addressed in a future patched, and more games released by this developer. The £2.49 price tag is deserving for the game, but I wouldn't recommend this game to you, just because of the gameplay balance.

Fun game with a great progression loop. I love how crazy it gets once you get a bunch of upgrades. Total worth the price.
