Girls Made Pudding is a piece that I ended up becoming incredibly fond of fast. I'd always kept a lingering eye on it, but grabbing it recently was a whim. I am not sure if I wish I got to it earlier, but I'm going to just assume the time was right and message resonated with me the most Now. RECOMMENDED FOR: - People who really like melancholic anime like Girls' Last Tour, Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, Haibane Renmei, etc. - People who are really bad at Death Stranding but really respect the vibe behind it. - People who want an evening or two of just listening to characters banter and talk to each other while playing relatively repetitive gameplay. - People who like honest representations of suicidality that don't bend over backward to delete every single suicidal thought in a character's minds, and try to fix the character. I love Narrative Games, and personally this was one of the ones that resonated with me the most. The way driving around felt, the way the mechanics paced out the dialogue in ways that were not quite possible in a Visual Novel format, and felt distinct. I'm sure there's other ways of achieving this kind of pacing, but I really loved the fact this was done mechanically, by things of my own choice and action. This applies to the Topic system too, the way you can sorta choose your preferred order of getting through one, while also making it feel like you're interacting with the conversation without forcing Big Choices. If you're looking for a gameplay heavy title with lots of stakes and mechanics, this isn't for you. As hard as Nikomi dodgerolling the CompHet of the Absence boss and hitting its knees with a stick would go. It's essentially a vibes-piece about two girls who are incredibly and ridiculously comfortable with the fact they can't imagine life without the other at this point. It's a piece trying to convey passive suicidality and the difficulties with understanding another full person in your life, and feeling anxiety at the isolation that not knowing what another person around you is thinking. I do think it would be disingenuous to say the gameplay doesn't matter though, it does. It all loops back into the atmosphere and pacing of the experience. Were this a pure visual novel where you never had to interact with the systems, there'd be a hole left in the core of the experience. Making the effort to work together with someone, to communicate and spend time with them. Pushing past fears and not adding qualifiers to your wants and needs... All of these and more really define this story to me. And I think the gameplay is essential to conveying this. You always need to be moving forward, working towards Something in order to achieve this. I came in having very minimal expectations for the writing, but I felt the dialogue flowed very gracefully. I noticed odd typos here and there, and in the ending sequence, there was a nametag that was attributed incorrectly as Nikomi when it shouldn't have been? That threw me off. But otherwise, I loved the dynamic of these two. The quiet depressiveness of a lot of their interactions, complimented by the warmth of their experiences together... It felt very relatable as a person who has struggled with depression and dissociation for most of her life. I love all the characters in this. This is not an "exciting" story and it doesn't end overtly hopeful or full of belief. But it's a wonderful love story about average people who don't have the drive to change the world. Also a personal request to the dev/s: If you can, pleassseeeee add in subtitles for those radio dramas in the post-end, I wanna ride around listening to themmmmm. Looking forward to whatever comes next from these devs.

Should you play Girls Made Pudding? Short answer : Probably Long answer : Pros : If you want to read a wholesome interaction between these characters, you would probably liking this game. I really grow attach to Sumibi and Nikomi as the story progress. I can relate with Marina and Yakime's problem too. The BGM is also really really good. Vibe all the time. Cozy little adventures to uncover why the hell everyone disappear all of sudden. Cons : Its basically VN, but manual. The bike have to move in order for dialogue to progress. The story will progress with the topic you choose with some specific task like "cook this" "cook that". But in my playtrough, the rng of the ingredients is a bit annoying cuz sometime i didnt get the specific item in order to cook the dish i want until the end of the day. Thats it. Atleast, if you get "game over". The game does'nt really punish you with anything, even if you play in the normal diff. My advice if you just want to 100% this game or just reading the story, use the story difficulity. Although i manage to complete this game with normal mode within 3 days.

Very cute, though don't expect deep gameplay. It's basically a VN with extra steps.
