Wartales, The Skelmar Invasion DLC

By a tactical / strategic point of view, the great think about this expansion is the fights against the Skelmar. They are really tough opponents with good gear (so some of the best loot in the game can be found here) and will challenge your strategic skills and the strength of your team in some of the best encounters in the game. On top of that, the number of missions to complete the main plot is something like three of the other regions combined. So, I believe, this expansion boosts the game up a level and it is a must for people who like Wartales.

It was good, but I wish there was a way to keep having siege battles after you finish the region. Like a contract where the Skelmar recapture certain locations if you take the contract.

Buggy, but great content. Definitely worth playing at least once.

I love this DLC. It's difficult, it adds new areas, enemies, an animal type, mechanics(siege tactics specifically, even if clunky), subclasses(Gunner, Cannoneer). It makes your troop work for the story forcing them to clear out specific areas before reclaming any land in a larger assault, NPC's seem desperate and heavily affected by the invasion around them. Skelmar can be talked to and interacted with beyond being The Enemy(tm) you have to kill. It has the unfortunate curse that most DLC do, where it isn't integrated well into the main game. It's mechanics are shuffled to its corner of the map and never leave and NPC's don't address the invasion very much until your on top of the DLC about to start it. It's also buggy, common for Wartales DLC. Despite the lag and some bugs none broke the game. I prefer this DLC closer to $12-15 USD, but I liked it a lot for what it offered. Tip and tricks for the interested: -There is one spot on the map that takes Skelmar prisoners(3 at a time), and one plot point involving prisoners themselves in the South of the region. -The enemies here are a little more challenging than standard Wartales enemy AI, to my delight. But be ready for that if you're trying this in a early game run/fresh game -If it's a bug it's still present in March 2026 but you can take a whole turn and then move to siege equipment and still lock into it over it being your whole Action
