About two-three weeks ago, a hacker gained access to my ubisoft account. The changed the email and password, so I can no longer login into this account. Unfortunately, Ubisoft made the decision to use their launcher as a layer of DRM, so my game cannot run from Steam without access to this ubisoft account. I contacted Ubisoft support, provided proof of my identity, my purchase history and steam ID, and they effectively told me that because I cannot access the email tied to the account, they cannot verify that I own the game and promptly shut down all communications. I have tried this multiple times with multiple games and I get the same answer everytime. Until Ubisoft disables their DRM, I'm leaving all their games a negative review. I have lost access to tons of games that I purchased legitimately because of this. Literally pirating the game is better than giving this company your money.

One of the best assassins creed games out there. However due to Ubisoft bricking their own game I have to downvote this. But all in all I love the game

🗡️ “From Revenge to Renaissance – A Legendary Journey Begins”
🌟 Rating: 9/10
Assassin’s Creed II is where the franchise truly found its soul. This isn’t just a game—it’s a beautiful, thrilling, and emotional leap into the past, with a story that lingers, characters that matter, and a world that begs to be explored.
🏛️ Story & Setting:
Step into the boots of Ezio Auditore da Firenze, a charming noble-turned-assassin on a path of vengeance and discovery in Renaissance Italy. From the canals of Venice to the rooftops of Florence, the historical setting is breathtaking, rich in detail, and alive with culture, politics, and danger.
Ezio’s journey isn’t just personal—it’s epic. His story of loss, legacy, and justice turns him into one of gaming’s most beloved protagonists. This is how legends are born.
🗡️ Gameplay:
Climbing towers, leaping from rooftops, blending in with crowds, or striking from the shadows—AC2 refines everything the first game introduced. New tools like smoke bombs, hidden blades (yes, dual!), and even Leonardo da Vinci’s gadgets add depth to the already satisfying stealth-action formula.
🧠 Missions & Exploration:
Side missions, hidden tombs, cryptic puzzles, and assassination contracts—Assassin’s Creed II is packed with variety. You’ll uncover secrets, upgrade your gear, invest in cities, and slowly build Ezio’s legend from reckless youth to master assassin.
🎶 Soundtrack & Atmosphere:
Jesper Kyd’s musical score is iconic—emotional, sweeping, and immersive. Combined with stunning visuals and authentic architecture, the game makes every moment feel like you’re living history.
💡 Conclusion:
Assassin’s Creed II isn’t just a sequel—it’s a milestone in gaming. With its perfect balance of story, gameplay, and world design, it delivers an experience that still stands tall over a decade later. This is where the Creed became eternal.

Assassin’s Creed II isn’t just a game — it’s a full-on journey through the heart of the Italian Renaissance. After collecting every feather, completing every tomb, solving all glyphs, and unlocking every secret, I can confidently say: this game is a masterpiece.
Ezio’s story is incredibly engaging — from a personal tragedy to becoming one of the most iconic assassins in gaming. The characters feel alive, and the historical setting is beautifully crafted. Every city — Florence, Venice, Forlì — feels unique and immersive.
Gameplay-wise, it still holds up. Stealth, parkour, swordplay, and villa upgrades all blend into a rich experience. Going for 100% completion is actually rewarding — you feel like you’ve truly mastered Ezio’s world.
The only real downside is the slightly dated combat system, but it’s a minor issue in an otherwise amazing game.
Rating: 10/10
A timeless classic. Worth playing at least once — and if you go all the way to 100%, even better.

Assassin’s Creed II is an absolute masterpiece and honestly one of the best games I’ve ever played no cap. From the second you become Ezio it feels like you’re living in Renaissance Italy with crazy good vibes and insane details everywhere. The storyline goes hard with Ezio transforming from a rich spoiled dude into a full-on assassin seeking revenge and he does it with style charm and pure badass energy. The cities like Florence and Venice are beautiful and full of life and the parkour is super smooth making exploration feel so satisfying. Missions are way more fun and less repetitive than the first game and the soundtrack really brings the whole atmosphere together. Exploring the hidden tombs feels like you’re on an epic treasure hunt and every moment just pulls you deeper into the world. Even after all these years the game still slaps and holds up like a legend and if you haven’t played it yet you’re missing out big time.

This is the starting point of the famous Ezio Trilogy. After having played AC Black Flag, Syndicate, and Unity, I can say that this game has a better story and narrative than those titles (imo) and probably even some others. The graphics and art style are definitely showing their age, but the game is still perfectly playable as it looks good enough. The only real issue was the controls; they aren't as smooth as in Syndicate, but definitely better than in Unity which I can personally vouch for, as I was able to finish the entire game using just a keyboard with default controls.

I used to play Assassin’s Creed II on a painfully low-end setup, barely pushing 8 to 10 FPS, but even then I finished it and was blown away. That’s how powerful this game’s impact was. Ezio Auditore’s journey through Renaissance Italy, paired with Jesper Kyd’s haunting soundtrack and the game’s masterful pacing, left a mark on me and countless others. It’s a true milestone in gaming history, elevating the entire franchise and setting a new bar for open-world storytelling.
That said, the PC version has had a rough legacy. From its notorious always-online DRM at launch to the more recent "Game.Startup.AwaitingFirstOsiConnection" bug caused by Ubisoft’s broken Connect launcher, the experience has been frustrating for many legitimate owners, especially when cracked versions work flawlessly. As of June 22, 2025, the DRM issue appears to be resolved, but the damage to player trust still lingers. Ubisoft’s lack of care in maintaining accessibility for one of their most beloved titles is disappointing. Still, if it runs smoothly for you now, you're in for one of the greatest narrative-driven games ever made.

Developed and published by Ubisoft Montreal in 2009, Assassin’s Creed II was released originally for the seventh generation of consoles and the pc and is an action-adventure game with stealth elements but not as much of a focus as its predecessor.
AC II starts off with more Desmond character development, with concepts like the “bleeding effect” more present and used to progress the plot. Now controlling Ezio Auditore in the Animus 2.0, explore the late 15th century in a quest to uncover the secrets hidden in genetic memories.
As an evolution of the previous game, the movement is more refined and “feels” more fluid even including, as plot progresses, more transversal movement options. A new addition is the presence of new weapons and armour, that combined with the city management, gives the AC universe a more complex and interconnect development, that in said city you can improve shops, different buildings, see your gear collection along with art that you can buy in the different places you’ll visit.
The game can be controlled with both mouse and keyboard, and controllers. There are multiple video configurations present, along with both Italian and English audio, with English subtitles.
Again, the manual brings small commentaries of the in-universe characters that increase the immersion, like the detail of a bug in the Animus 1.0 that prevented your character from swimming.
Something that I now appreciate more than when I first played is the compartmentalization of the missions. Each game segment is divided into missions that can be completed quickly, allowing the player to have a better control of how much time one wants to invest playing the game.
Present in game are also several collectables, this time not restricted to flags. Although most serve to promote exploration, they are mostly inserted into the plot in a way that doesn’t feel as forced, being used as plot devices.
The sense of freedom, exploration, and a story that becomes more interesting with each new mission makes this game an easy recommendation.

This game was designed for controller support, and even still has the command layout in game to support controller input, but this port does not support controller usage. DO NOT GET THIS GAME OR ITS DLC FOR STEAM!!!

Assassin’s Creed II gave me something no other game has — closure. A few hours in, and I felt my childhood dream come true. The rooftops of Florence, Ezio’s journey, the music, the freedom — everything I imagined as a kid but could never play back then. Now, years later, I finally lived it. And it healed something small but important inside me. Grazie, Ezio.
