I cannot believe i haven't played this game untill now. Only a little over halfways through but having an absolute blast. Great story, great characters, great lore, great gameplay and so much variation in it.
If you have played newer AC games and haven't traveled back to the old ones, don't hesitate, get this one.
Guess 2009 was a golden year for games... sad how things have changed.

One of the best assassins creed games. i havent played 1 yet, but i have played AC3, odyssey, origins, and syndicate. assassins creed 2 is tied to AC3 for me, but bias plays a part in AC3. though i will say, one of the assassins tombs, visitazione's secret" im impossible on keyboard and mouse, id recommend switching to a controller if you have one for that dungeon, took me about 20 tries before i beat it with a controller on my second try lmfao. the game is great though and i miss the old desmond timeline.

It seems like the Ezio trilogy really defined what Assassin's Creed is to its core. Freestyle parkour was definitely ahead of its time, different ways to assassinate targets (quiet & stealthy or just charge in and vanish), and the setting was pretty good / somewhat accurate.
The soundtrack by Jesper Kyd was pretty top tier which even future games takes a few notes from.
The story had a decent amount of depth along with various side activities to do around the cities of Italy.
Only issue I had were just some minor control issues since this is game on the older side and I think primarily made for consoles w/ controllers which was then ported over to PC.
Note: Played this previously on Ubisoft's occasionally buggy launcher

Nearly a totally perfect game, just wish some characters got fleshed out more.
You can pick at this game all you want but it's peak on so many levels.

Assassin’s Creed II isn’t just a game — it’s a full-on journey through the heart of the Italian Renaissance. After collecting every feather, completing every tomb, solving all glyphs, and unlocking every secret, I can confidently say: this game is a masterpiece.
Ezio’s story is incredibly engaging — from a personal tragedy to becoming one of the most iconic assassins in gaming. The characters feel alive, and the historical setting is beautifully crafted. Every city — Florence, Venice, Forlì — feels unique and immersive.
Gameplay-wise, it still holds up. Stealth, parkour, swordplay, and villa upgrades all blend into a rich experience. Going for 100% completion is actually rewarding — you feel like you’ve truly mastered Ezio’s world.
The only real downside is the slightly dated combat system, but it’s a minor issue in an otherwise amazing game.
Rating: 10/10
A timeless classic. Worth playing at least once — and if you go all the way to 100%, even better.

This is the starting point of the famous Ezio Trilogy. After having played AC Black Flag, Syndicate, and Unity, I can say that this game has a better story and narrative than those titles (imo) and probably even some others. The graphics and art style are definitely showing their age, but the game is still perfectly playable as it looks good enough. The only real issue is the controls; they aren't as smooth (feels clunky a bit) and responsive as in Syndicate, but definitely better than in Unity which I can personally vouch for, as I was able to finish the entire game using a keyboard and mouse with default controls.(Some people say that it's really hard or even impossible to play this game with a keyboard, but that's not the case — it's definitely doable.)

I wish I could play this game for the first time again, I remember playing it as a kid with my father on a PS3, the Ezio trilogy made my childhood. I'll always recommend these games, they are classics that should be played at least once by gamers. The game still hold up nicely considering its time and the lack of updates. Ezio's story had a great impact on my childhood, I still look up to it, even after all these years. It's a must have, and I'm sure you'll love it even more if you are a history freak like me. (Remember, these are all just my personal opinions and recommendations, you might view it differently. <3)
