(Comments enabled - if you have questions I'll do my best to answer.)
You should know: This game has a good, compelling antagonist route.
Those aren't exactly common in this genre so if you like the sound of that, grab this game. Overall, I found this game charming, albeit with some hit-and-miss elements. This game does a really good job of putting its fun, refreshing lineup of outcasts in the spotlight. Seriously, the blind guy who cusses like a sailor is probably the most "normal" of them all. Despite their circumstances, the characters are pretty believable even with the setting being primarily fantasy, and it's easy to root for them! The main leads really lean on their semi-dysfunctional teamwork to get things done, and there's no melodrama. If you like your protagonist to be proactive, you're also in luck. The art is really varied and lively, and I think the steam page undersells some of its CGs, which tend to look nice and dynamic. There are more CGs than some full-budget titles, with attention being given to moments other game developers wouldn't have bothered with! There's also some pretty decent action scenes; I'm usually not a fan of them, but they're competently done here. Depending on your route there will be several new scenes, making it pretty replayable. Just check out how long I played the game at the top of the review! The main downside with this title is that the plot slows down/draws itself out at times, specifically during the "autumn village" section. Again, the game is pretty detailed; it gives the characters a lot of opportunities to shine and display their personalities, but maybe to a fault? Your mileage may vary, as I have a lower tolerance of slice-of-life stuff. That said, the drawn out portions are usually setting you up for the final confrontations as well as the final route, and the game does a good job at hinting that "something is wrong™". I put the game down and picked it back up later only to realize I had taken a break right as things got good. Disclaimer: There's appropriate splashes of actual dark/horror elements here, which I found interesting. You shouldn't find it off-putting unless you're really sensitive, but I figured ya'll deserve a heads up. This is a solid indie romance title and while imo it isn't in my top 3, I do think this game is memorable and worth buying. Especially if you're already familiar with indie titles in this genre!
TLDR:
If you like the idea of a troupe of goofy misfits experiencing a "hero's journey" type story with a rewarding final route, and you are willing to put up with a (on the surface) generic world setting with lopsided (but worthwhile) pacing, grab it. The final route is worth the price alone.
