Very fun but can get aggravating for those with bad luck. 100% RNG based but also very fun and addicting.

Good game. Great synergy between items. Please increase game speed. Changing ini file speed can cause corruptions which forces you replay the round. I hope more DLCs come.

Really big fan, probably one of my favourite games ever. Clicker-esque gambling game with a very unique psychological horror element, and with the ability to be surprisingly easy and surprisingly difficult at the same time

A lot of CloverPit genuinely works. The atmosphere is immediately convincing: grimy cell, hellish slot machine, a debt that keeps growing. The low-poly aesthetic sells the dread perfectly, and bending the RNG to your favor through charms and modifiers has a real satisfying pull early on. The charm system sells you on the idea that you're building something meaningful, but the slot machine quietly erodes that feeling over time. More items should mean more control, but it ends up feeling like the opposite. That slow erosion is what kills the 'one more run' drive that good roguelikes live on. I also came in expecting something closer to Inscryption, a game that uses its mechanics as a trojan horse for something stranger, and that expectation, while entirely my own, made the experience feel emptier than it probably is. More than anything, I kept wanting something to work toward beyond surviving the next deadline. A bit more narrative depth would have been exactly the hook I needed to stay invested. I'm well aware that 3 hours barely scratches the surface, and I'm clearly in the minority. But if this review steers even one fellow roguelike and horror fan toward a more informed purchase, it's worth writing. No grudge against the game at this price point however, just a heads-up that the presentation might set expectations it doesn't quite meet.

Not being albe to get a single good run in after like 10 rounds is just not fun, I can only get far by going for clovers bec anything else wont let me get out of the first one or two rounds and the jump from 6 mill to like 144 mil is actually just stupid. The game is fun when once every 20 rounds and thats not enough for me. I once almost got to 144 mil and then never again, I cant go for any of the fruits bec they dont make enough money and the moment I go for anything like 7's I got 0 iteams for it.

CloverPit is an interesting little gambling roguelite, one of many that have popped up after Balatro's viral success, and it's a project I was excited to check out seeing as I loved Panik Arcade's previous project Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom which was a GOTY contender for me in 2024 (It's an awesome retreo-styled 3D platforming collectathon game with unique movement mechanics). Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed by CloverPit, while it maintains the crunchy visuals and sounds effects I was used to from Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom, and has great creativity in specific design elements, as a roguelike I found it quite boring, and a game that grew stale quickly. These gambling roguelikes have obviously taken over online storefront, and I can't deny I'm someone who can be a sucker for watching big number go up. That being said, the titles like Balatro that have broken out and been established as classics / titans of the genre have done so because there is an immense level of strategy within that roguelike structure. In Balatro that would be choosing when to discard, what to discard, what to play, how to use your hands. In CloverPit while you have some ability to reroll through charms, and shape your run, ultimately there is a huge amount of RNG dependency, all the while that strategy is lacking as the gameplay is essentially pulling the slot machine handle on repeat. I have a feeling that CloverPit was a smaller game made between projects, that probably performed way better than Panik Arcade expected in terms of sales. Ultimately I put a few hours into it, and put the game down one run away from achieving the ending, but don't have any motivation to get that ending as it lowkey feels like a chore to play at this point, and with how the RNG can be, it could take a while before I actually win that last run. In the grand scheme of the genre CloverPit is a skip. I played this game, at first, on my Android phone. I got it for free through a Google Play pass. After spending about 15 hours in 2 days playing it, my eyes were getting sore. I have very limited money, especially for games, but spending the $12 or so on this game with the DLC was a no-brainer. It is even better on my laptop, as my poor eyesight is no longer as big of an issue. I was addicted to Balatro for it's gambling loop with all of the interesting unlockables. Cloverpit gives me much of the same thriils. It would have been worth it at twice the price.

I agree with the sentiment that a lot of people feel towards this game in the reviews. Many charms are indeed very situational, and to complete memory packs you will be relying on the same few charms + strategies to consistently win. The gameplay loop can get repetitive; after all, the game is literally "grandma at vegas sitting at the slot machine throwing her social security away". Despite this, I still find myself booting up the game (whether on steam or on mobile) to play "just one more round" - something about the dopamine rush of running up a massive payout by using the right charms is incredibly satisfying. If you are looking to get the rush of gambling without putting another paycheck on red, I would reccomend this game.

I have mixed feelings about this game, but it's a very good second-screen task if you just want to listen to something in the background of it. For the price, it provides a lot and I think it's understated how the developers are still adding to it even when they really don't have to. In regards to gameplay, while other reviews may point out that being in the middle of unlocking charms results in runs being bloated with ones that are (for the most part) unusable, once you do have them unlocked, every run becomes winnable. At some point, you become familiar enough with the game to know what charms to have equipped during what deadlines to ensure consistent wins. Jackpots eventually either do not matter or are guaranteed every spin. The real slot machine becomes the shop rerolls, similar to late-game Balatro runs. One gripe that I do have with the charm unlock system beyond its grindy nature is how long it took to unlock every sacred charm. I understand that they aren't available so that the "wow" factor of unlocking them hits harder, but I really did not like having to do that just for the achievement, given that oftentimes these charms didn't match my build or whatnot. They aren't even available at the phone sometimes, requiring a lot of rerolls or another 666. I would've liked if they were all unlocked at once when you get your first sacred charm, but their descriptions were blocked out until you actually got them. I don't think this goes against how unlocking works given that most charms unlock when some threshold is reached, not when you get them. If there was anything I'd want from the game, it would probably be some lore or some more characterization of the voices that talk to you throughout your runs. It'd probably be a big undertaking and with added dialogue, it'd probably affect the player's immersion or focus, but even if it's something on the side I think that'd be pretty neat. CloverPit's aesthetics share a strong similarity to other very crunchy-looking indie games out there (like Inscryption), so I don't think people would be put off or even surprised if there was more to it. But the hints that are already present in the game is fine. I don't think there's anything wrong with the endings you can get and what they're saying. Overall, I think if you're into games that help pass the time, I think CloverPit justifies its existence as something that'll help you do just that.
