One of the best sims in the series, Legacy collection is missing some stuff from ultimate collection, but if you own the ultimate collection you can put it back eazy pizzy. All my 10GB mods that I previously used on ultimate collection on origin and then later ea desktop works on this version, I prefer this one, easier to install on steam deck and also on pc than ultimate collection that needs a quick fix, if you already have ultimate I don't recommend buying it unless you really want the sims 2 on steam like I wanted, this is not a remastered version same game with a few tweaks applied by EA to run on Windows 10/11, you can do it yourself on ultimate collection if you own that.

Game has been running smoothly for me so far. I only have about 13 hours rounded up in game play but within those hours I have been able to install and utilize mods from all the way back to 2008 from ModTheSims so that's a win on its own. Sorry for the people who are having trouble because I can seriously understand how frustrating that may be. But overall from my end, the game is playable, mods can be installed, and controls are good. I recommend.

LISTEN- I was a bit iffy on the price, but between ts2 and ts4, this is far better. If you too dislike the over-the-top cheesiness of ts4, hearing the same dialog all of the time and lack of new gameplay, I highly recommend ts2! Ts2 also invokes a strange nostalgia and has much....darker (?) humor than its current heir. All in all, I enjoy the chaos ts2 brings as well.

Very nostalgic,I played this alot when I was younger. The older Sims games just have this charm that the new Sims4 doesn't have the small details and the overall vibe and gameplay is just alot better in The Sims 2
Great classic made by the Legends of Maxis and in my opinion the best Sims game.

It seems they have fixed and addressed many issues that were there on the launch of this legacy collection.
Which is the bare minimum for a new updated build.
It looks like shadows are working as they should.
Which is nice compared to the og game that had broken sims shadows on modern hardware/drivers.
The biggest issue I'm noticing is the UI scaling: it sounds like a good idea for bigger resolution but it comes with the huge drawback that the UI was not designed to be scaled in the first place so it makes the low resolution textures extremely noticeable and annoying. To the point that it even makes text hard to read.
This approach also has no consideration for your pixel density so on my huge 1440p monitor which doesn't need any scaling it's painfully obvious.
A proper upscaling of the UI textures would be very much appreciated.
And maybe also just an option to disable UI scaling entirely and just have the regular lowres UI that will actually looks good even if very small on bigger resolutions.
I really hope EA keeps properly maintaining this release...
Because modders are usually doing a good job fixing things so I do expect EA to do better than people that don't even have the original source code.
Speaking of source code why not open sourcing the code at this point?
You really don't even have to freely distribute assets or anything, you can also do it under a restrictive license.
At some point you should just truly let the community do the work if you're not willing to go all out to fix and improve everything yourself EA.

I thought some of the reviews about it crashing were just one-off flukes. Nope, this game has crashed 3 times on me in a span of 40 mins. I don't understand how EA can mess up so bad that a game that's been out for over 20 years is still in an unplayable state. I used to run this game better on my PC back in 2006!

I played the game for about 3 hours with no issues because all I was doing was building a house and making families, but as soon as I put a family in a house and started actually playing I keep getting the same runtime crash error?
I've tried everything under the sun to get it to just stay open for more than 2 minutes. Running the game in windows 7 compatibility and in administrator mode, clearing the group and accessories cache, even set them to read only.
I've even done the more extreme things like the 4gb patch and putting in the graphics rule replacement file.
I verified the files, and it did find 5 missing files, but that didn't fix the error I'm having.
I've installed the newest vcredists, netframework, and direct x thingies.
Tried turning off shadows, running the game in windowed mode.
Tried to get a refund for it and wasn't able because I'm over the 2 hour threshold. I'm just mad and exhausted at this point. The nostalgia of this game is not worth the headache do not waste your time.

I've never played sims 2, being able to now opens your eyes to how Maxis really downgraded the games. Sims 3 was a smash, however you can't even play it. Sims 4 is boring and cartoonish. Seeing the love that was put into this game makes it so worth the buy!

If you grew up on Sims 2, this collection is like coming home. It has everything, the expansions, the chaos, the weirdness. This isn’t just a game; it’s a time machine back to the golden age of life sims.

Crashed 2 times on start up, loading times are crazy long for a game thats 20 years old, pressing "Q" prompts a pop up from the garden dlc that led to another crash when interacting with it. refund issued.
just go and pirate the game instead, if they cant manage to get a 20(!!!) year old game to run smoothly they dont deserve the money
