- it should have more events for its price
- not enough events for rulership focus, especially
+ good DLC for any sort of character
+ allows you to have a dog
+ allows you to study holy texts
+ allows you to pursue research
+ allows you to participate in tabletop wargaming

It is an expansion that adds a single gameplay feature and corrects the corresponding text messages that make it work properly. And there's nothing else under the hood. Are you kidding me? So glad I got it on discount. I'm happy to support continued development, but would also like serious support from the devs. This should have been part of an actual expansion, it is definitely not a serious way to show that this title continues to receive serious support from Paradox. It is also a change in business practices on the go, a thing they eventually understood it is causing friction in of itself. But this is still sold separately. So be warned.

Honestly, I went into the newest dlc with a certainty that it would be another bland expansion with a few new baubles and possibly more than a few nerfs to events.
I am incredibly pleased with how it has turned out.
Way of Life is, in my opinion, the best DLC since Sons of Abraham. A common theme with the roleplay aspect of your characters is that it tended to grow dependent solely on you later in life as events and decisions become less prevelent, usually because you fulfilled all your possible ambitions and were left with only random events firing. With the changes this expansion provides, that is no longer the case. The ten focuses your character can take allow not only a variety of events to pop up regarding that character, they provide an easy directive for how you character should approach things.
The biggest impact it seems to have, however, is that it allows you to really enhance you characters the longer they live. One of the biggest problems I tend to have is the characters just tended to stop growing and changing later in life. And when they did, it tended to be largely negative. The focuses allow you to build your character in a certain direction while ensuring they will keep changing throughout their reign.
Now, I will admit that some people, especially those more focused on the expansion aspect of the game, will probably not be very interested by this. Obviously, this is more about character immersion than it is about really changing the game. But for me, Crusader Kings 2 will always stand out as the best Grand Strategy because of the incredibly immersive roleplaying.

Hired spies to follow my Sister-Wife to see if the baby she was carrying was mine or that of a cousin whom I suspect she has been seeing illicitly. Turns out it is my baby after all, what a relief. Now I can welcome in another Nephew-Son or Niece-Daughter into the family!
11/10 would impregnate again.

This DLC is really good. But it's so integral that I think it should be in the base game.

The mechanics added in the WoL DLC do add a great deal of depth to the role playing aspect of the game and I certainly enjoyed experimenting with the various options.
However, despite the patch that supposedly fixed issues with the seduction focus, the DLC is massively unbalanced. Since getting the content I have seen a ridiculous number of adulterous characters and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s filling up the courts of Europe, not to mention the highly OP evil mastermind characters that can imprison, mutilate and kill across the game with impunity.
The lack of repercussions coupled with the seemly random nature of the AI makes it incredibly difficult to play a serious long term game.
While I enjoyed the content initially, I would not recommend buying it until the issues are fixed.

Simply not worth the price tag. Pick it up when it's on sale, else don't bother. 7,99 is outrageous for the minute amount of additional content. The new mechanics are extremely limited, beyond giving you a +3 boost in a stat of your choice. Besides that, there is an extremely small amount of events tied in with the lifestyle you choose. Which is to say, every lifestyle has one or two events firing off, ever.
Do not buy this tripe. This is exactly what is wrong with DLCs.

This DLC really brings a much needed depth element to the game. Instead of making the map bigger or the timeline longer, the "story" you are creating for your dynasty is getting some much needed TLC.
The main element of the DLC is adding a new focus to your character's ambition. You can focus on things such as family, stewardship or theology If you are more into the darker parts of the game, you can concentrate on seduction or intrigue for example. A great factor in this is that you are able to change the focus after a couple years as well so you are not limited to one for the duration of the characters life. What you choose will create new story opportunities that will affect your dynasty. Each choice brings new dialogues and options to the game that will have good or bad effects.
I really like the direction of Way of Life and hope Paradox continues with these kinds of additions to the game. I would even say that the game feels "complete" for the first time to me. I'm in the middle of a full run starting from the 8th century and Way of Life has injected a new life into the late game. Definitely pick it up if you are planning a new game and it is worth the $8.00
