It looks really promising. Interiors look promising though some objects from the original were replaced with more modern equivalents of such.I enjoy quality of life features such as possibility to inspect level before choosing your haunters, easier way of earning gold plasm, option to roll back upgrades on the haunters etc. It is still clearly early access, so there are plenty of smaller bugs and if its your first contact with the franchise it might be better idea to buy original and install complete edition mod, but if you crave more modern rendition of the game, there is potential in Ghost master: Resurrection, and I'm looking towards more updates.

Revived classic with enhanced visuals, immersive sound design, and a sleek UI. The eerie sound effects and dynamic music amplify the haunting atmosphere, while the revamped interface makes ghostly mischief more intuitive than ever. With improved graphics, detailed environments, and smarter AI, this remake is recommended. A hauntingly fun experience! 👻

I encountered a bug where the people doing the séance won't get scared and run away and the electrical fetter near them can't be binded to

So far so great. The gameplay and narration still feel awesome! If only this could be a chance to finally get Ghost Master 2. I'm still waiting for that train, you know?

I didn't play Ghost Master back in the day, but played a good 6-8 hours last year. I decided to get back into the game recently, and that's when I learned of this remaster. I was skeptical going in due to the reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. Note that I've only played the first act(or first three levels), but have minimal complaints so far. I'll start with the positive, which I'm glad to say there's a lot of. In no particular order: - The game looks nice with updated visuals across the board, with some environmental changes (more on those later) - Quality of life and changes like subtitles, more detailed info for ghost powers, and you can finally preview the map before choosing your team of haunters. I don't remember how, but I believe you can easily see an outline of every fetter on the map with its affinities listed (electrical, emotional, etc). Oh, you also earn more gold plasm per level and can "respec" your haunters, which is free of charge from what I can tell. - Issues/bugs from the original are no longer present, such as the horrible slowdown on levels like The Unusual Suspects. I replayed a bit of the original before starting this version, and I couldn't speak with Terroreyes to find out what they wanted / how to free them. That thankfully was not the case in this updated version. - Voicelines and company seemed mostly the same, which is great news if - like me - you enjoy campy delivery. I want to say I've also heard additional gibberish lines from the Mortals, which is great. - This version is much easier to run than the original; so much so that I've only played it on Steam Deck, which works quite well. I had to assign a couple of buttons - mostly camera related - but that's pretty normal for SD. While I think this version has fewer issues than the original, there are still some present, doubly so since this is an early access game. Some issues I've noticed include: - Each level's opening cut-in cinematic gets stuck or goes weird more often than not. This happens in other cut-ins too, like the professor in Summoners Not Included meandering down the stairs without threatening the students. - The camera has less granularity than the original. Instead of holding down right mouse and swinging the camera, you have fixed angles you can move between. I also haven't seen how to "birds eye view" unless a cut-in moves the camera for me. - Speaking of, Summoners Not Included broke for me and I had to restart. The students completely refused to perform the Darkling Ritual, despite 30 minutes of Spiritual Suggestion on my part. I'm not sure if this is part of the level, but the students wouldn't open the cellar door without getting access to the outhouse. After 10 minutes of waiting, I opened up the outhouse, someone went in and walked out, then went straight to the cellar door. This was after multiple times of them standing on top of the door without doing anything. The game also has some environmental changes that aren't exactly a negative, but I'm not sure why they exist. For example, the three nerds in Weird Seance are in a different part of the basement. The basement has also been rearranged slightly. This is far from a deal breaker, but again, not sure why they changed it. They also removed the goal completion time from the post-level results. Again, not sure why. I liked the original times since I had a goal to reach for, and they were a nice benchmark of efficiency. I would like to briefly mention some issues other reviewers have had. Some issues - like Haunters going somewhere other than where they were bound - were in the original version as well. I'm not sure if they haven't played the original in a while, but I've seen multiple people mention issues with this game that are also in the original. While the complaints are valid and ideally the issues wouldn't exist, they're not problems with this remaster specifically. In terms of what I'd like to see from later versions of this game, I can think of a few things: - fewer bugs is an obvious answer, and I don't mean Clatterclaws. A bug-free Ghost Master almost sounds like an oxymoron, but I'd love to see it. - I appreciate the addition of subtitles, but they're a bit small and hard to read - especially on Steam Deck. No idea how much work it would be, but a simple toggle for larger subtitles would be great. - I mentioned being able to preview the levels before starting them, rather than picking your Haunters blindly and hoping for the best. This is a great feature, but there's a 2 minute time limit to do so. I get they don't want this game to be 100% puzzley - the lack of a pause function makes that clear - but the timer really doesn't seem necessary. Overall I'm pleasantly surprised with how playable this game is for Early Access. I do kind of get the impression the devs are frontloading the playability and the game will get less stable the farther you go, but I'm not sure how else they would tackle it. Hopefully the devs will keep up the work and listen to feedback; maybe then we'll have an ideal version of Ghost Master that everyone can enjoy.

I am half and half on whether this game is worth getting over the original. Summary: Buy on sale, this game is as playable as the original but both have glitches and quirks that make the experience a 75% instead of a 100% if the developers had more time to fix glitches. Positives: * Graphics updated. * AI for mortals is better. * Quality of life improvements (eg icons for mortals holding ethereal gifts, etc...) * Generally the missions go a lot more easily as the game AI is a lot quicker to respond. * Items in game have been updated like the TVs and Computer monitors being flat screens. * Levels have been slightly expanded on or minorly changed such as adding new rooms. Negatives: * Missing features of the original. (e.g. missing items to bind ghosts to such as skeleton displays in doctor's office, plants that aren't considered earth for binding, paths used by Weather Witch in original not existing, etc...) * Character model glitches. (e.g. the mortals don't understand lock doors and when I scared a mortal in a locked prison cell they glitched out passing through walls before rubber banding back into the cell) * Some of the ghost requirements to unlock are still hard to accomplish. But so far half way through act two its not too awful. Glitches I encountered: * In Summoners Not Included, the book is tagged, but no ghosts can bind to it even if they match the tag. * Clipping of character models though walls. Overall the game is improved in someways from the original, but new glitches have appeared that I hope the new devs can fix with a patch soon.

I recently replayed the original and decided to give this remaster a try as well. So far, it's an impressive update to the classic! The team has done great work modernizing the game while staying true to the original experience. There are some bugs and issues, but the developers are actively addressing them and seem very responsive to community feedback. All the original missions are already there, and it looks like they’re working on adding extra content too. Excited to see what future updates bring!

Was my game to go when I was 12 years old. It's almost two decade now.. and I get to enjoy this resurrection of a game that made my childhood fun. 10/10. I was wondering if the cut contents will be coming back as well?
A nostalgic trip with room for improvement
As someone who really enjoyed the concept of the original game—despite its many bugs—this remake is exciting news for me. I’m hopeful the game will reach a stable 1.0 release and that they’ll continue expanding with more features and maps. Things to Keep in Mind: Currently, the game is in a 0.2 state, and it shows. There are bugs, including map-breaking issues that sometimes require you to replay sections multiple times or follow a very specific sequence of actions to avoid certain glitches. It's frustrating, to say the least, but hopefully, this is just part of the early development process. Another concern I have, which I hope will be addressed as the game progresses, is that some ghosts and their abilities don’t seem to be working correctly. The visual effects for certain abilities are either missing or not functioning as intended, which detracts from the experience. The gameplay can get a bit repetitive, and some UI/UX choices feel off. For instance, the way "victims" are highlighted could use improvement. I’d love to see a simple status indicator near the cursor when hovering over them, making it easier to track their condition at a glance. Final Thoughts: Despite these issues, I’m giving it a thumbs up. For just $4, I’ve already gotten 7 hours of entertainment, and it definitely provided a nice nostalgia trip. While this game may not be for everyone—especially in its current state—I feel like it's on the verge of being something enjoyable for a broader audience, even for those who never played the original. The setting is unique, and with time, I believe it could be something really special.
