Within the first 5 hours I have had a few instances where the audio locked up and now the whole app crashed.

Performance sucks. It could not even recognize MP4 file format coming from an action cam. What a waste of money I made.

For the past few years, I’ve given Movavi Video Editor the benefit of the doubt. However, since 2023, I’ve had to change my prior ratings to negative due to constant issues and a lack of meaningful updates. Movavi is still a good editing program, but its lack of basic user control has become a serious problem.
I get that it’s meant for entry-level users, but at this point, CapCut and DaVinci Resolve have already taken over that market - and they offer more for free. Movavi can’t keep ignoring critical improvements.
This time, I’m starting negative and will only change my rating if they actually fix these issues. Here’s a simple breakdown of what needs to be improved:
Issues That Need Fixing
1️⃣ Color controls are too basic.
- No color curves, selective color adjustments, or secondary color correction.
- No HDR support, meaning high-quality footage is washed out.
2️⃣ Chroma keying is weak.
- Only a few sliders, making fine-tuning nearly impossible.
- No spill suppression or matte adjustments, making green screens look rough.
- Transparency handling is poor, making effects like smoke and fire look bad.
3️⃣ Timeline is outdated and unoptimized.
- No customization options or pull-up flexibility for precise editing.
- High CPU spikes when zooming in, even on high-end PCs.
4️⃣ Preview settings are limited.
- Only "High" or "Low" options.
- No ability to choose specific FPS settings, or optimized previews.
5️⃣ Video enhancement tools are weak.
- Sharpening is too basic—only one slider from 0-100 with no fine-tuning.
- No radius, threshold, or detail enhancement options.
- Lack of AI upscaling, proper noise reduction, and motion smoothing.
6️⃣ Lack / Poor quality of commonly used effects.
- No Glow or Bloom
- Camera Shake is weak – Needs a "Smooth Shake" variant similar to S_Shake, with better motion control.
- VHS Effect (and many others) lacks customization – No way to disable the rolling distortion, limiting its usability. Another case of over-simplicity ruining a good effect.
I’m not asking for overly complex features, just basic improvements that should already exist. One slider for every effect is lazy. You should be able to control most variables in every effect. It limits creative control and makes Movavi feel outdated.
Movavi isn’t a bad editor, but its constant limitations make it frustrating. If these issues aren’t fixed, people will outgrow it or switch to better software. Fixing these problems in 2025 instead of waiting for another paid update in 2026 would go a long way in keeping users loyal.
And please - no more undisableable upgrade pop-ups.

Oh boy... The weird thing is I would actually recommend this over the regular PC release of 2025 due to the bloat it has from the new subscription model they are trying to force down your throat. This is the most feature complete version yet but it fundamentally barely differs from 2024 or 23 only adding AI closed captioning and other ai improvements for audio and tracking. Going back to this after using Premiere Pro for a few months was shocking. It is easier but the workflow is plain awful. There are also still remnants of the subscription model for the asset packs here which kinda sucks. It also seems to run worse than the native PC version and 2024 and older. The export process doesn't seem to actually use hardware acceleration like 24. There are cool things here like the background removal and ease of entry and even the audio features have gotten me out of a pinch. I still use the background removal in these programs and make artificial green screen shots I can use on better editors. If you want a great experience that you can grow with? It's time to move on to another editor.
