Ironfist DLC: The good the bad and the ugly...
Ok I bought the DLC and it has pros and cons. I personally feel that these missions should have not been DLC but free bonus missions. While the concept is fun ... there are gaping flaws in the design to play them well.
First off, the camera is completely locked. The camera should perform like World of Tanks and allow you rotation view as well as operation.
Secondly, control is problematic... sometimes when I would right mouse to change to machine gun vs shells... the AI would just take over. The AI should not try and control the tank at all...
Third, this style of gameplay lacks scope mode. I am just blindly firing at red things in the distance which makes no sense... One needs to be able to go in scope mode ...actually looking down the barrel and ability to zoom also. Without that... these missions feel novelty. Again, World of Tanks does this well.
Fourth, there needs to be specifc hotkeys for the tank commanders for... Refuel, Repair, Rearm... I was somehow stuck with no fuel and had to quit the game losing progress in the Japanese mission. Those simple commands should call a support truck to your location. Simple as that.
Fifth, there needs to be a way to change shells... I could not change from AP to HE at all.
------------------------------------------------------------
So... having said all that... the missions *could be* fun and not be *a frustrating purchase*. You all should have included a regular play mission on all the new maps.. and as "Bonus Missions" made these direct control tank missions.
I realize that this expansion helped fund the current patch and future work on the MoW AS2 franchine but the DLC lacks completion to be functional.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Lastly, I do not know why you guys just don't buy hire Sir Henkels mod (as example) and sell it as true DLC? The quality and effort put into those maps are worthy of purchasing as DLC.
I do not want to see MoW AS2 turn even more away from realism and go more arcade like... this DLC unfortunately gains me nothing but 5 new arcade missions which need enhancements to the engine.

Men of War: Assault Squad 2: World of Tanks. Seriously this is great fun, well done, manages to feel cooler than then Call of Duty did it. Surprising amount of effort put into the third person missions, 1 per faction. Get it on sale, I got a discount. Good fun though, and apparently the other stuff in here is for multiplayer so if you do that a lot then it's worth getting.

These missions are trash. They're uninspired and quite boring and some objectives are just terrible. The only reason I own this is because the deluxe edition was real cheap.
My experience with the "first" mission (The USA campaign):
(This mission comes towards the end of the campaign as if it was building up to something)
(The missions before it stood stronger and more fun (using the regular type of gameplay/not being stuck to one unit))
I'd get far into the mission and my tank would suddenly get destroyed in one hit, despite shrugging off every other hit.
So I'd quit and not come back to it for a week.
Repeat!
In the normal game, it was never fun to spend hundreds of resource points on a tank for it to suddenly blow up before your eyes from some lucky shot - whereas enemy tanks seem to do fine and stand strong in a fight.
In these missions, you have one tank and if it gets destroyed? You start over. It takes you back to the menu. That is if you don't realize the game saves between checkpoints, you start over.
Not fun and has made me quit playing the game multiple times despite being on the brink of finishing a campaign.
You're also locked to 3rd person and you can't see shit when enemies are hiding behind trees/bushes etc. But of course, they can shoot through them with decent accuracy. It actually makes the game easier to turn off grass in the menus.
One thing I did like was that you can choose your tank out of 3 options. BUT....
- You can only do it if your on the main menu - meaning that if you finished the previous mission and selected 'continue', you won't get the option. The only way I would have found it is from being fed up with the mission and coming back when my patience has recovered.
- There are only 3 options (from what I've experienced).
- There is no way to check stats of the tanks/see differences/see appearance. Two of the options where the same tank but with slightly different names. (For example: Big Tank 01, Big Tank 01K4). The only way you can check is to select one, start the mission and back out to do the same with the other...that's 4 loading screens...just to see the difference...
- It's in some shitty drop down menu. Why does this feature exist when it's half-assed and can easily go unnoticed.
I saw another review a while ago saying these missions are too easy. Nope. I've been playing on normal the whole campaign, I've tried other difficulties too - This feels like I'm playing on hard with some influenced RNG with these tank shots - god damn, they're the luckiest, flukiest Germans ever.
And as for the "Free updates" in the description, I fucking hope that they get given to the regular players and not just DLC owners. Because that would be trash too.
Edit: Just had an objective on the last part of the mission were you have to destroy enemy artillery as the tank crew (no tank) within a few minutes. I got all the way to the enemy position, killed them all just as time ran out but the mission still failed...because I didn't destroy the 3 tanks (btw, it does not give enough AT grenades for you to make it there and destroy them. You have to scavenge the rest or find another - longer way). Fuck these missions.

I do not think this DLC is with the money, nonetheless I am recommending this because of the Unit veterancy and Auto ammo resupply. I haven't used the 3rd person much but it does not matter to me. The Replays of your multiplayer matches and the ability to save, load and share them with others on Steam Workshop I find pretty useless but other people may enjoy this.
My final opinion is it with the price if you enjoy this game and will use its features, go ahead but if you're looking for a DLC to enhance the gameplay then I don't think it is the right choice or worth the money. Thank you for reading my review, have fun.

Ok I have men of war and its realism and everything about men of war, but when a game tries its best to become another game this really pisses me off. Men of war is unique in its way of RTS game style no other game is the same, but the devs have just stripped all of the fun in the unique men of war type gameplay and made this DLC to make a tank battle look like another game (world of Tanks) it totally ruins the gameplay for me. This is not a 3rd person shooter game it is a real time strategy.
And as usual the AI in the campaign are dumb as usual, enemy supply trucks will literally run into your defensive line and ram you tank, the campaign although is OK it still kissing the hard men of war gameplay itself, you are in a tank which has a lot of armour e.g. the Tiger and Churhcill tank, and guess who you are up against? pzIII tanks and small AT guns so literally you just steam roll the enemy in a few minutes. There is no getting out of the 3rd person view mode and also you get a damaged track? in the normal men of war series you ahve to get a crew memeber out of the tank and make him repair the track while the tank lays vulnerable, but in this gmaemode it is more like World of Tanks as in your track will "automatically" be repaired within a few seconds.
This is Disapointing becasue even paying £6.99 you only get 1 new mission for each nation.
Really disapointed in this DLC.

SCROLL TO BOTTOM FOR PROS AND CONS.
So I'm going to say if this DLC is worth getting or not, First of all, I don't think the develpers have ever tried anything like this before. What this DLC contains is 5 3rd person close up tank(World Of Tanks view point) missions where you control the nations some powerful tank. Well first of all I'm kind of dispointed because you can't pick the tank that you want. You only use heavy tanks, no anti-tanks nothing like that. As well as that every single mission is the same. Go invade, defend for 3 mins or so, then your tank gets magicaly broken, so you have to go and gear up your tank crew to go and destroy the enemys tanks on foot. The enemy tanks are not moving, theres 3 of them. You're people don't die as easily, they have something like triple health of a normal soilder, I've just rushed them into the enemy destroyed their tanks and then it went onto the next bit of gameplay. Heavy Enemy tanks come in destroy them, Push forward and destroy everything thing else. The only things that can be damaged on your tank are left and right track and they get repaired within seconds, you dont even have to go and send people out to repair it, it's World Of Tanks style, Wait a few seconds and magic its repaired. Then if you get trapped and they get destroying your tracks and you're bad at shooting the tanks tons of smoke comes out the front and back of your tank, blocking your vision so you don't know where to shot. And then your tank can get destroyed and it blows up and you fail then mission. There are also some MP things that you get with this DLC like saving replys and uploading to steam Worshop but I haven't really tried them out.
I'm now going to get onto the PROS And CONS, If you skim read that, or didn't even read that.
PROS:
It's fun to do play it. You have a new challange.
It adds MP features like saving your reply of an online match and then uploading them to the steam workshop.
Adds more achivments.
CONS
Every single mission is the same. Go do that and that. The only different thing about them is that you're playing as a differant nation.
Only 5 missions.
They are short missions. (30 min long)
£7 I think is a bit too much.
A.I Is Derpy
So overall should you get it YES Or NO?
Yes I think you should even though it may not be the best DLC get its fun to play, Sometimes the A.I and their derpiness makes me laugh. If you do not want to get it at full price then get it when its only sale cause when it is on sale I think that it is more worth it!

If you're expecting similar gameplay like the base game, you're sorely mistaken.
The DLC takes the formula that 1C had carefully crafted... and threw it out a window and into a burning dumpster. The game plays like a off-brand WoT or WT.
Don't buy this and save yourself from having to send a refund request.

I thought that EA and creative assembly release voidless and overpriced dlc's but then this badboi came out.
On the basis that the first foundation of good profits is an appealing product, while profit and consumer benefit are not mutually exclusive but rather mutually reinforcing concepts, this bloody abomination not only fails to deliver but also was supposed to be a free of charge update - as stated by instinct some 15 months ago.
Nontheless, the prevailing capitalistic mentality that's enforced in the todays market, which dictates that you must purchase anything within your grasp might trick you into buying this pile of junk, which I also did in one last money sacrifice in order to aid the game developers- or more like decomposers, in hopes of possibly changing their attitude and reinstating their attention to this dying series.

I bought this DLC only for the replay feature. But if you want this DLC for the same reason i did, please, reconsider.
You can only pause the replay, there is no speed down or up, so you can view better a moment or reach a specific moment faster. It's just so basic it shouldn't be sold in a paid DLC! I understand that rewind may not be possible, War Thunder also couldn't do that, but no speed up/down? They told us they would be working on it "next week". That was 2015.

I don't understand why so many people keep complain its third view. The third view is just a bonus. The map is well scripted and worth to play.
*Spoiler*
I had played as German Jagdpanther. The tank assault on Caen is just great. I blow tank after another, but they just keep coming. They even send the Ace Jumbo at me, but I manage to break its track and destroy the tank.
The battle has ended, the enemy is retreating, NOPE. They send another wave, I was panicked because I thought the game was over, but then two stuka appear nowhere and demolish the tank convoy, making tragic scene.
Greatest moment ever, thank for this DLC, developer. I should have picked it sooner.
