I loved this game from my childhood. The remaster has been done reasonably well.

Two of the most impactful JRPGs I ever played when they originally released, glad to see them on steam finally. Took a bit to get used to the new voices but they're all pretty good and I appreciate the qol updates (especially the battle speed).

I couldnt recommend this more. Considering the time this was originally released, it hands down beats nearly any other jrpg at the time.

Having both the remake and classic is a wild good deal. The story is just as amazing as I remember when it first released. Great RPG for anyone.

This was a nice blend of RPG and Anime cutscenes and the remaster looks much better than the original. The autobattle is pretty good, but the UI menu is as bare bones as it was in the past. There is no dash either. I already beat this back on the Playstation, and if you are wondering if its worth playing again, that's going to be up to you because I couldn't keep playing it.

Really enjoyable game. It has a story that seems simple on the surface but unfolds with many twists and turns. The cartoon animated scenes and voice acting are also very well done and remind me of the El-Hazard series. Just an enjoyable game that isn't trying too hard. Well done

Two games I never thought I'd see released again outside of my childhood. Both are very much underrated gems! I will say the gameplay is fairly simple in terms of RPG mechanics, but it more than makes up for it when it comes to its world and vibes. The characters are charming, the setting is cozy. There's so much flavor in the world, Party members will chime into random NPC conversations or comment on props on the map and they account for quite a lot of situations in that regard. It's really cool! My personal preference: I much prefer the sequel over the original. There's a lot of generic tropes for the plot beats and characters of the first game. Don't read me wrong, I don't think the first game is bad by any means! Its still incredibly charming, I just feel it's sequel took what was there and improved on it in every way in terms of gameplay, plot and characters!

(No Spoilers) Lunar 1: 6/10 Lunar 2: 9/10. Lunar 1 - Lots of cool ideas, but the gameplay is quite bad. Very little of what you do matters, and the game is VERY easy. You can't do much better than what you can set up with the AI. The story and characters are extremely 'Vanilla'. More so than you probably have ever seen before. This makes it quite boring. The cutscenes and voices are used for basic things - the impact of them is weak as a result. All the parts to make a good game are there, which brings us to: Lunar 2 The flaws of Lunar are almost entirely fixed in Lunar 2. The story and characters are original and engaging. Great humor is weaved into npcs across all of the towns and in the banter of the characters of your party. The cutscenes and voiced scenes are used at fantastic times (not simply 5 seconds to introduce a character, etc). Even outside of the cutscenes, they have put a lot of work into animating sprites at key parts of the story. Gameplay is really good. Unlike 1, this game is quite challenging. Encounters and bosses have lots of mechanics that make it important to choose your actions correctly. It's very basic RPG stuff, but it makes you think in most battles when combined with the difficulty of the game. Enemies with high defense need to be targeted by magic. Enemies with high magic defense need to be targeted by physical. High damage targets, targets that do AOE damage (which make it important to spread your characters out). Enemies do high damage, so it is important to do all of this correctly since your healer won't be able to keep up through a whole dungeon otherwise. Almost none of this matters in Lunar 1. Overall thoughts on the collection: They have done what they need to do to earn the purchase. It is convenient to pick up and play the game now. It plays perfectly on steamdeck, and the remastered parts make it look great (yes, most of the game will look exactly like the playstation version, but that's what we want). Hopefully, the success of this could somehow lead to a Lunar 3 in the future.
