Janky Third-Person Shooter inspired by Helldivers 2
First of all, this is probably the best title from Octo Games, being the closest I have seen to far to being a full-featured, finished product. I bought this intending to say that it is unironically more fun than Helldivers 2 which wouldn't actually be saying very much because MOST games are more fun than Helldivers 2... (That particular Pay-to-Win live-service game is ruined by "Antagonistic Dungeon Master Syndrome".) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KGwalkcLXI However, the game is a bit too janky with regards to movement and combat and the adult content is actually disappointing since most of it looks bad. I don't regret buying or playing this but I really wish that they had put a little work into making it less janky (this game desperately needs better animations) made the adult content better-looking, and maybe even made more than the 3 missions + 1 endless mode that they put in the game.
The Good
The music in the title screen is nice and the core mechanics of the game all work as intended though they are a bit janky. The high-level game design decisions are actually quite good with repeatable missions, persistent upgrades, and an endless mode which you can exit at any time while keeping your rewards rather than the horrible "play until you die" loop that makes me skip endless modes in most games. The story also really is a spiritual successor to Helldivers 2 with you "triumphantly" establishing a base in one mission, evacuating it in the second, and watching as it is blown up while you retreat in the third. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3691414381 With "victories" like these, ^ who needs defeats? The general premise for how the adult content is unlocked, namely that your time with the girls is a reward, presumably paid for with cash earned form the missions, is also something that works so well that I would like to see it in full AAA games. (I think it makes much more sense than the bear scene in Baldur's Gate 3.) I also like how unlike some of the other Octo Games shooters, this has a clear set of missions that you can actually finish with an endless mode as an optional mission type which is actually well-implemented since you can leave at any time and keep whatever you earned. (That last point is worth mentioning since several other shooters by this dev are basically just one map in endless mode with no clear objective besides surviving long enough to unlock everything.)
The Bad and the Ugly
As noted before, the animations are very "one-man-dev-team" and too janky for my taste. (I once had a game-breaking bug where I got stuck in the middle of a jump on a flat surface and just stayed there until I died.) The adult content in this game is really hit or miss and mostly the latter. Most of it just looks ugly. The Steam market cards you get by playing the game actually look really good though so it makes me wonder how good the game might have been if they had just stuck to still images rather than attempting to make these mostly ugly 3D models have sex like humans. It's odd to say that the worst part of a porn parody is the porn but that is actually the case.
Conclusion
If this game had smoother movement and combat, better animations, more missions, and better-looking adult content, it would be a classic. As it is, it's just an indie game which I bought on sale and liked well-enough that I played all the way through it.

SEXDIVERS, developed and published by Octo Games, is an unconventional indie action title on Steam that blends science-fiction survival shooting with deliberately provocative themes and chaotic alien combat. Released in early 2025 for PC, the game places players in the role of a heavily armed operative tasked with protecting a scientific expedition on a dangerous extraterrestrial planet. The premise is simple but effective: a group of researchers is exploring a hostile alien world, and it becomes the player’s responsibility to escort and defend them while waves of aggressive creatures attempt to wipe out the mission. The narrative framework is minimal, serving mainly as a justification for the constant action, but the concept works well enough to establish the game’s setting and give structure to its missions. Gameplay revolves around a straightforward survival-shooter loop. Players move through alien environments, engage hostile creatures, and complete various mission objectives while keeping the scientific team alive. The combat system relies on familiar first-person shooter mechanics, focusing on mobility, positioning, and quick reflexes as enemies swarm the battlefield. Encounters often escalate rapidly, forcing players to react quickly to multiple threats at once. The intensity of these situations can create tense moments, especially when defending objectives or protecting NPC allies during particularly aggressive enemy waves. While the shooting mechanics themselves are relatively simple compared to large-budget shooters, they still deliver a satisfying sense of action when the battlefield fills with hostile creatures and gunfire. The alien enemies form the backbone of the game’s challenge. Players encounter a variety of hostile creatures that inhabit the planet’s ecosystem, each designed to push the player into different combat situations. Some enemies rely on brute force and close-range attacks, while others swarm in large numbers, overwhelming players who fail to manage their positioning. These encounters give the game a strong survival flavor, as players must constantly monitor their surroundings and react to unpredictable threats. As missions progress, the difficulty ramps up through tougher enemy variants and increasingly intense attack waves, ensuring that players must remain alert and adaptive. The environments in SEXDIVERS emphasize the sense of exploring a dangerous and unfamiliar world. Alien landscapes filled with strange terrain, unsettling creatures, and isolated research outposts help establish the atmosphere of a remote scientific mission gone wrong. Although the environments are not particularly large or visually complex, they still succeed in creating a consistent science-fiction setting that supports the game’s survival theme. The focus remains on action rather than exploration, but the alien backdrop helps maintain immersion during missions. One of the game’s most distinctive characteristics is its adult-themed presentation. SEXDIVERS deliberately leans into mature content and provocative humor, blending sci-fi action with exaggerated and sometimes absurd elements that are clearly aimed at a niche audience. The inclusion of explicit themes and suggestive imagery makes the game stand out among other indie shooters on Steam, though it also means the experience is not intended for everyone. For some players, this irreverent tone adds a layer of bizarre humor that complements the chaotic action. For others, it may feel unnecessary or distracting depending on personal taste. From a technical perspective, SEXDIVERS reflects its status as a small independent project. The graphics are functional but modest, relying on relatively simple models and effects rather than cutting-edge visuals. Animations and environmental details can feel somewhat basic, especially when compared to larger modern shooters. However, the game compensates with energetic combat sequences and a constant stream of enemy encounters that keep the gameplay moving. The sound design focuses on weapon fire, creature noises, and environmental ambience, reinforcing the tension of defending the expedition against alien threats. Progression in the game primarily revolves around completing missions and surviving increasingly difficult encounters. As players advance, they face stronger enemies and more demanding scenarios that test their ability to manage chaotic combat situations. While the progression systems are not particularly deep, they still provide a sense of momentum as players continue pushing forward through the campaign and challenge themselves against tougher missions. One of the main limitations of SEXDIVERS is its relatively narrow scope. As with many indie titles, the amount of content and variety can feel somewhat limited after extended play sessions. Mission structures may begin to feel repetitive, and the enemy roster is not extensive enough to completely avoid a sense of familiarity over time. Additionally, the heavy reliance on provocative themes means that the game’s appeal is inherently restricted to players who are comfortable with its tone. Despite these issues, the core gameplay still offers moments of chaotic fun, especially for players who enjoy straightforward action and survival-style challenges. In the end, SEXDIVERS is a strange but occasionally entertaining indie shooter that mixes alien survival combat with an intentionally outrageous presentation. Its gameplay is built around accessible shooting mechanics and intense enemy encounters, making it easy to jump into even if the overall systems remain fairly simple. While the limited scope and niche tone prevent it from becoming a widely appealing title, it still offers a short burst of chaotic entertainment for players curious about unconventional indie projects. For those willing to embrace its bizarre identity, the game provides a curious blend of sci-fi action and absurd humor that stands out within the crowded landscape of small-budget shooters. SEXDIVERS 🔞 is an adult-only sci-fi action game built around a simple “drop into a mission and survive” concept. You run into hostile areas, fight off enemies, and try to keep the team/NPCs alive while completing objectives. It’s more about quick, chaotic runs than a big story campaign. The gameplay is straightforward: shoot, dodge, manage pressure from waves, and push through the mission goal. It doesn’t aim for deep tactics or complex systems, so the fun mostly depends on whether you enjoy fast, repetitive combat and constant movement. Progression is driven by leveling and unlocks. The more you play, the more upgrades and adult content you open, which makes the game feel like “grind to unlock” for a lot of players. If you like steady rewards, that loop can be satisfying; if you want variety, it may wear thin. The biggest weakness is balance and repetition. Early missions can feel punishing in an annoying way rather than challenging in a rewarding way, and if enemy types and objectives don’t change enough, runs start to blur together. The 18+ content is not just a small extra—it’s a major part of the motivation. It’s usually presented as a reward for progress, so your experience depends on what you came for: if you want a solid shooter first, the adult layer may feel distracting; if you want adult content first, the gameplay may feel too basic. Tone-wise, it comes off as a niche, not-too-serious project with a clear gimmick. It’s not trying to compete with polished, high-quality shooters; it’s more of a curiosity aimed at a specific audience. Overall, it’s worth it only if you specifically want an adult-themed mission shooter and you’re fine with limited depth and repeated content. If you’re looking for a genuinely strong action game with lots of variety and refined mechanics, it can disappoint quickly.
