It was a fun game, but probably the worst Aveyond I played. Necessary for the rest of the parts, but it was super repetitive. It was mainly hopping back and forth between four places. And not even in a we're going to stay here for a while and solve this thing kind of way, but in a we're going to this city to get one thing, go back to find out we need to go into another city for one thing, but the problem still isn't solved. Rinse and repeat. In the previous games there was enough story and progress that it never felt repetitive, but this one was preyy boring. I liked the new cities though, and there were lots of creatures for Moo Hatchery. It was also really short, which I didn't appreciate, since Aveyond 1 and 2 (as well as a lot of their other games) can last 30-60 hours easily.

i recommend buying this game if you want to play a continuing storyline (I still think the 4 games under chapter 3 should be one whole game but ofc they wont get as much cash from that).. but the game on its own is pretty meh.. the previous games could stand better on their own.

Just started, but I feel as if all my effort to save up money and, at least, the items that were expensive (or even just equipment) went to waste!!! I guess i will go back to 3-2 and use all the level eggs I was saving since that's the ONE thing that you can bring over... also, this game really doesn't like it if you choose the Stella route. :/ She is a lovely character and deserves more love. Anyhow, even from a Mel point of view, I feel like I wasted my time in the previous two.. *sigh*. I love this series so much...(even though they don't make the characters I ship cannon...every time...since the prequel...). I will continue to support it as it offered me a great game when I was too broke to support anything(Ahriman's Prophesy is free). I am hopping grinding through this will make the last chapter worth it. My recommendation? 3-1 and 3-2 where great for fans and have a solid ending. If you are new, play the prequel(Ahriman's Prophesy) as well as Aveyond 1 and 2! So far, Aveyond 2 is my favorite(except for the ending). This one is for the ones that are dedicated and want to finish it all while supporting the creator. edit: 6 hours in and i still haven't changed my mind about this recommendation. On one hand, I like the new characters, but on the other i am incredibly disappointed as to how Stella was written off even if you bring over the save from 3-2. Items are all gone for good too.

I might have given this a game a "depends" if there was the option but there isn't, so here goes. First off, if you really want to give it a shot, buy the first one, not the set. Due to the huge maps you'll be well past the two hour limit before you get a sense of whether you like it or not. Get the rest if you like it. I've been playing RPGs since the Dragon Warrior days. And yes I know I just dated myself. I really wanted to like this. I bought it as part of a set, and ran into problems (technical) with the first one too far in to return. So I'm forcing myself to play through the rest. But I'm done. Halfway through the third of five I am just done with oversized maps that force you to double back and loop around constantly (even towns. Even in towns there's dead ends everywhere.) There are some good things. There was a lot of care put into customizing some of the assets. The story is interesting. The magic mirror express is handy but far from a complete circuit. Enemies are visible and largely avoidable which is nice if you're getting in a bit of trouble out there and trying to get back to a town. But for the love of God if you're not giving me a sprint option then don't take away the winged shoes I had the last two games. Items you need to complete quests shouldn't be in random boxes you have to stumble across. Trekking through the same labyrinthine caverns every time you have to go between two places is drudgery - have a magic door open or something. And what RPG takes away your only healer to tend farm animals?! And the worst thing? The story spans four games, and quests that turn up in one game may not be solvable until the next, even though they're in your journal. So there's more hours blindly stumbling around trying to solve an unsolvable quest. I know it says I played for nine hours. Most of it was running around in pointless circles. Just saying.

Hands down my least favorite game of the series. The story bits are too far apart, so much that you'll start losing interest. Some new features were added but I didn't like them at all. It was all too confusing. The main things start very late in the game. Also, I actually got the main plot twist before even getting there. The previous two in the series at least had me wondering the fate of the characters. But then again, I wouldn't want to miss the storyline so I recommend it anyway. It's just that Aveyond 3-2: Gates of Night set the bar really high. When I finished it, I actually missed the gameplay and the characters. So don't miss it because the character interactions, the story and the scene before the final battle makes it worthwhile in my opinion.

You should definitely play Aveyond 3-1 and 3-2 before playing this one; otherwise the story won't make a lot of sense. I liked the improvements made to this one (was easier to follow the quests). Which I did not like that much was that you had to run around a lot in the later part of the game (so if you are allergic to that, don't get this game ;) Also, it was not that important what you did before; all items and money was gone. Would this be a standalone, I would not recommend it; but as part of the series, I still recommend it.

Again, this is just a fun series and I have really enjoyed the plot for 3. This one specifically felt a little drawn out and I am kinda just ready for the story to end. These could have all been split into 2 games or just one long game I think and it would have been fine.
