By far the worst (and thankfully optional) part of the game comes in the shape of the Diablo DLC. I won't spoil it much, but it has been hands down, one of the most miserable experiences I have ever had as a gamer in my whole 20 years playing. I don't know if it was because of the difficulty (I played it on "Kovac" difficulty), or it was just designed that way, but the whole concept of the island is not fun. The enemies are not fun, the areas are not fun, the animals are not fun, and to top it off, the story is a massive kick in the groin. By far the worst part of the whole deal has been the two new types of enemies added in the game: The electrified zombies and the "Tin-man" Zombies.
Let's begin with the least of the offenders, the tin-man zombies, named that way for their funny spacesuit-ish clothes, are a type of zombie that may appear invincible, with the game even telling you that you need a special weapon in order to kill them (THIS IS B.S. DO NOT EVER USE THE ELECTRIC GUN IN DIABLO ISLANDS) and, fairly, they are quite the tank, needing at least 3 headshots with a high power weapon like a crossbow while having a complete immunity to melee attacks. They have a large AOE-ish impact that will stun you and make you zombie feed easier than you think, and if you manage to shoot it three times with the high damage weapon, they will stumble back and explode in a similar radius to the fat zombie. Overall, just a nuisance, nothing too bad.
But don't get me started on the rusty nail coated suppository that is the electric zombie. This will be your constant tormentor and executioner in the whole DLC, with FUN mechanics such as:
IMMUNITY TO MELEE. scratch that, the zombie is not JUST immune to melee, IT DAMAGES YOU. Serves you right for trying to use your fun chainsaw.
INFINITE REVIVES: OW1 Mercy ain't got nothing on this electric vibrator. You see how there are signs that tell you not to use a phone close to a gas pump because a tiny spark from it may end up in a fire? Contrary to that warning sign, it is VITAL that you do not use anything remotely electric close to the corpses of these sparkheads, otherwise be ready to face literally every single one of them.
FUN IN PAIRS: Oh yeah, have I told you that they can revive each other just by being in the modest close proximity distance of... the other side of the isle! Yes sir, if the corpse of one of the spark addicts is even in the close vicinity of a live one, a nice long 10 trillion volt current will be passed to his dead buddy to which you will be warned with the melodic and soothing sound of a screaming grown ass man that signals that your scrotum is about to be trampled by the FUN enemy. By the way, have I said that usually, these types of enemies come in pairs or trios? All good and set to recreate that picture of the black men and the tiny white chick in the sofa, and buddy, you ain't the men in that picture.
Lastly, why not enjoy the only and main quest in the isle, one that will have you go back and forth in the same 3 places gathering thingamabobs and ultimately giving you one last middle finger to all your efforts (no spoilers, I want YOU to suffer as well).
I could summarise the Diablo DLC with a single quote by the AVGN: "What were they thinking?"
