Useless dlc. No any fun added.

You can argue about the system of DLC's as a whole. You usually don't get your money worth. And it's more for the bank accounts of the producers than for the gamers. But thats not the point here. I find the three Heroes worth a look. Not really worth investing starting points in, but definitely as Heroes for hire, especially if you're lucky and get them early. Mr. Thief can learn some ranged attacks and invisibility on level up. UAG 19 has more Hitpoints than most other regular heroes, can learn regenerate and strength auras on level up. Major Foreman is a decent fighter with some useful abilities. Most of the heroes you can get at Wizard Creation can become usefull later on, since they have either unique abilities on level up or at least combine regular abilities quiet good. They're not as strong as some legendary heroes but since you can get them for a reasonable amount of gold, i find them more useful than most of the other heroes.

These heroes are not worth spending points on, just wait if they become available for hire. If not, no big deal, they won't help you win the games any faster. Mr Thief is misrepresented in the game. Shows that he's a ranged unit when actually he's a melee unit. But you can only arm him a bow. WTF! Takes a long time for this hero to become useful. Often requires lots of healing to keep alive. UG-19 is slow and useless. Dies often. I just stopped recuiting him. Major-Foreman, never seen this one for hire so really can't say anything, but if he's like the other two..... Not worth the price they're asking.
