It's definetly overrated (especially with how simple the gameplay is) but its still fun and you can try to search for easter eggs from time to time

a true classic. even after all these years the game still manages to get me with its jumpscares. and the games final challenge (4/20 mode) is also just as challenging and rewarding at the same time. its not my favorite FNAF game, and has some flaws, specifically the fact that the gameplay can get boring if you understand the game on the first 3-4 nights. still worth playing. 8/10.

Challenging and skillful game, if that's the kind of stuff you like, this is the game for you. Don't forget the lore.

This is where it all started, my years-long love affair with the FNAF franchise. Bonnie on the left, chica on the right, foxy sprinting at you, freddy lurking in the shadows waiting for his chance to sneak into the office, perfection. The sound of the lights, the doors, flipping up the camera, “diddi dum dum dum” from Pirate’s Cove, Chica making a right mess in the kitchen, and Freddy’s song. Golden Freddy. All adding to a suspenseful and tense atmosphere that keeps you locked in despite the underwhelming gameplay. These sounds will never leave me. The sounds of childhood. “Hello? Hello hello?” at one point I knew this whole phone call from memory. Phone Guy, such an iconic character, such a tragic ending. I can’t believe people (me included) once suspected him of being the murderer. Although there isn’t too much in terms of lore, the newspaper clippings that can show up randomly on camera gave us the foundations of the story to come. “It’s me”. I remember spending hours watching lore and theory videos, and that very first Game Theory… we don’t talk about that one. Theory Thursdays with Dawko, Razzbowski and 8-BitGaming were amazing, peak content. I miss these days of YouTube. Replaying this game now is such a nostalgia trip, taking me back to these great times. Without this game, I wouldn’t be a part of this amazing fandom. 7/10

Five Nights at Freddy’s is a seminal entry in the survival horror genre that has left a lasting impact on both indie gaming and popular culture. At first glance, the game’s concept seems deceptively simple: you play as a nighttime security guard at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a once-popular family restaurant now haunted by malfunctioning, sinister animatronic characters. Using limited resources like security cameras, lights, and doors, you must survive the night shifts while fending off these eerie figures. Despite its minimalist mechanics, the game manages to create a profoundly tense and unsettling atmosphere that hooks players from start to finish. One of the most striking features of Five Nights at Freddy’s is how it generates fear through anticipation and restraint rather than traditional combat or exploration. The player is confined to a single room with fixed points of observation, relying heavily on sound cues and camera feeds to track animatronic movements. This limitation creates a claustrophobic experience where every creak, whisper, and mechanical noise could signal imminent danger. The fear isn’t from jump scares alone—though those are certainly effective—but from the oppressive sense of being hunted and the pressure of managing scarce power supplies to keep safe. The game’s design excels in turning simple elements into a gripping challenge. The AI behaviors of the animatronics are cleverly scripted yet unpredictable enough to keep players on edge. Learning their patterns, managing the cameras, and conserving energy each night requires quick thinking and careful multitasking. Progression is marked by increasingly difficult nights that escalate the tension and demand sharper focus, fostering a deep sense of accomplishment with each successful survival. Another key aspect is the lore woven subtly into the environment and minigames, which has since blossomed into a complex narrative tapestry spanning multiple sequels and spin-offs. The mysteries behind the animatronics, the dark history of the restaurant, and cryptic clues hint at a disturbing backstory that has captivated fans and fueled countless theories. This storytelling style adds an extra layer of intrigue that extends the game’s appeal beyond pure survival horror, inviting players to piece together its unsettling secrets. Visually, the game opts for a deliberately low-fi, grainy aesthetic reminiscent of security footage, enhancing the realism and dread. The limited color palette and sparse set design keep attention focused on the animatronics and audio cues, with lighting and shadow playing crucial roles in building suspense. Sound design is particularly notable—each creak, footstep, and robotic groan is designed to unsettle, making headphones almost mandatory for the full experience. While Five Nights at Freddy’s may feel repetitive to some due to its confined setting and looped mechanics, the tension and atmosphere are powerful enough to keep players engaged through multiple playthroughs. The game’s success lies in its elegant simplicity and the way it masterfully manipulates player psychology, proving that a few well-executed ideas can redefine a genre. Overall, Five Nights at Freddy’s remains a landmark horror game that introduced a fresh approach to scares and storytelling. Its impact on gaming culture is undeniable, inspiring numerous sequels, adaptations, and a dedicated fanbase. For those who appreciate psychological horror and tense gameplay wrapped in a unique premise, it is a must-play title that delivers thrills, chills, and a lingering sense of unease long after the screen goes dark. It's absolute cinema. It's scary, it's fun, the loop keeps me on edge constantly, it's just the perfect blend of game play and horror. Some of the scares get old after a few times of seeing them, but still, amazing. 9/10.

I didn’t expect much going in — just an old indie horror game with some loud jumpscares. But holy hell, this game knows how to mess with your nerves. No guns. No running. Just doors, lights, cameras... and dread. You sit in one room all night, completely helpless, praying you don’t hear footsteps or Freddy’s laugh. And when things go wrong — it’s your fault. That’s what makes it so intense. Every second is a panic attack waiting to happen. Foxy ruined my confidence. Freddy ruined my silence. Bonnie and Chica just wouldn’t let me breathe. The game gives you almost no time to relax — and that’s what makes it so good. I finished the whole thing in about 5 hours, but it felt like I went to war. Custom Night 20/20/20/20 nearly melted my brain, but beating it felt amazing. Pros: Terrifying atmosphere Minimal mechanics, maximum pressure No random BS – every mistake is yours Addictive “just one more try” loop Cons: – Not much to do once you beat it – RNG sometimes kicks you while you're down If you want a horror game that makes your hands sweat and your brain scream: this is it. Yes, I recommend this game. (but don’t be surprised if you start checking your hallway IRL)
