Bao Bao's Cozy Laundromat Steam Charts & Stats

Most 'gamified' pomodoro on Steam [spoiler]such as Spirit City and gogh[/spoiler] require high spec hardware to run. Personally I don't have Super Gamer Computer and would like my gamified pomodoro to be lightweight, so I can leave it running in background without having my work softwares hiccuping. From how I see it Bao Bao's Cozy Laundromat is more of this kinda tool, so if you're here for a more... exciting idle game? This is [i]probably[/i] not for you. There's not a lot of items you can unlock and the progression is kind of slow. Also BGM isn't very... remarkable. It's your usual 'lo-fi beats to study to' type beat.

I dont think I can confidently recommend this game, the events are SO short lived so you have next to no time to "participate" in them, which just includes buying seasonal furniture. I had to let my game run for almost 2 days straight to allow myself to accumulate enough to get the achievements, so I ran out of time to actually refund it, I do enjoy idle games but I cannot recommend this one at all. Also to add to it, it often crashed so I would lose some progress and some text would overlap others, little to no info on any of the items either. Its cute and absolutely has potential if they add other things to said game, even if its little random events or the ability to maybe iron some clothes yourself for extra coin IF you choose to do so etc. The game is VERY bare bones, they are looking to make another one but I am not confident in it.

This idle game is really cute and really simple. It might be too simple for some. I wish there were more upgrades available. Like being able to upgrade the pandas would be awesome. But given the price of the game I can't complain too much. I love having this running in the background as I do other things.

This idle game was nice and laid back. I feel like I could leave it running in the background when I play other games and it didn't cause any issues. I know there aren't many guides on how to play, or if there's an 'efficient strategy' on item placement, but I don't think it would matter, as the game's AI is a bit weird with the pathing of the pandas. As long as you prioritise getting more workers to help out at the Laundromat, you'll be making money you've invested back much faster. The decorations weren't that expensive, so it's nice to have an aesthetically pleasing background with plants, machines, and cats whilst your pandas are hard at work! I would recommend this game if you're looking for an idle game, or just for easy achievements! PS. Please keep in mind I said easy, not fast. Reaching that last achievement for '1M Coins in the bank' will take several days worth of afking with a load of panda workers. PPS. There is a point in the game where it's no longer worth buying another panda helper, and just letting them accumulate the money over time instead of investing into the game. The last upgrade I bought for panda helpers was at the ~300k cost. After that, it took me about 1 full real time day of afking to reach 1M from 0.

It's a very cute game and quite a fun idle game. It is a bit slow moving at first but once you get the hang of it, it's not so bad. I will admit it could use a bit more direction in it's little tutorial but as long as you buy everything in pairs and get the higher washing and dryer, it's quite easy to make some money. I'd recommend giving it a shot!

A cozy, sweet slow burn game that you can play in the background. A great helper as a task manager for when that bug to distract yourself with something comes up or when the need to reward yourself for doing a good job (which I need all the time) Highly recommend. I love the aesthetic a lot. Bao Bao killing it with this laundromat.

Starting off, this game is excruciatingly slow. I left to afk the game overnight and then I started progressing a lot faster. On day 2, I afked the game overnight again. By day 3, which is now, I've filled up the entire map. I didn't realize there was a pomodoro timer feature. I haven't tried it out yet. Overall for having the game run for nearly 43 hours so far and for $4, it's not too bad. I will the game was more developed and there was more progression-- ie prestiges, co ops, etc etc. Still, it was very fun and cozy. I really enjoyed seeing the interaction of the cat and the machines.

Even though Bao Bao’s Cozy Laundromat has received mostly positive reviews so far, this cozy idle game isn’t for everyone and I can understand some of the criticism that’s been voiced. Personally, I often just let it run while I’m tidying up my studio or working in Aseprite/Pixel Studio/PixiEditor, tasks you could use the built-in focus timer for, but never actually do - for reasons. So it mostly serves as a kind of display animation on my main monitor and honestly, there isn’t much to do in the game anyway. And that’s where my bit of criticism starts, despite the cozy vibe and the cute pixel art aesthetic, I really wish there were a few more innovative elements and interactions, no shortage of ideas on this side. The music is okay and while I enjoy lo-fi beats, everything here sounds a bit too similar. The tracks all start, bridge and end in nearly the same way, and the motifs (musical phrases) repeat far too often for my taste. Also, there’s too much downtime between songs, which often leads me to just turn the music off altogether. I totally get that the devs probably thought, “Let’s just go with lo-fi music, everyone likes it, we can’t go wrong.” And that’s not entirely wrong but here are a few factors they overlooked and that’s why I want to bring it up. It doesn’t always have to be this kind of lo-fi. Why? Simple: Bao Bao’s Cozy Laundromat ends up sounding just like most other games in this niche and I’ve got quite a lot of them. Which means it misses a chance to stand out, to be something a bit more special. If that was the exact intention, just to blend in, then mission accomplished. But for other devs reading this and thinking about creating something similar, here’s a friendly piece of advice, or in other words, ask yourselves: Should it be truly great or just barely good enough? Wouldn’t it be awesome if, in the reviews of these kinds of games, you’d occasionally read something like: “The devs clearly put thought into the soundtrack. Instead of going for the most typical lo-fi vibe, they chose a more varied mix of jazz-hop, acid-funk, ambient, psy-dub and trip hop, giving the game a unique feel and a true USP.” (Unique Selling Proposition) If you’re not entirely sure what I mean, look up the following three songs, you might get a clearer idea of where I’m coming from: 1.Kerusu – Forest Shrine 2.Maestro Garofalo – Sun Groove 3.CloZee – Collapsed Purity. And since we’re talking about sounds: I’m also not a huge fan of the rain. It’s okay but it doesn’t sound particularly pleasant, and there’s a noticeable hiccup at the end of the loop. The sound of the washing machines can only be heard when zoomed in and unfortunately, it’s just… kind of meh. In the game’s defense, Bao Bao’s Cozy Laundromat is pretty affordable and doesn’t try to squeeze maximum profit from minimal content. Still, I don’t really understand why anyone who already owns the game would also need to buy the soundtrack as a DLC, it just doesn’t feel necessary. So if you’ve ever dreamed of running a laundromat and having a bunch of adorable pandas do all the hard work for you, this might be worth a spin.
