Nancy Drew And The Mystery Choo-choo
I am a neophite to the Nancy Drew universe (never read a book, played only one demo and this game in 2025 for the first time). With that being said, I am sure there are people with fond memories of this one, as I had fun with it despite my lack of nostalgia. The train makes for a great location (which is good, since you'll spend almost all of your time on it), and it has a solid atmosphere, helped by the soundtrack. The story is a great fit for a young-adult detective adventure (although I am not sure I love how the final sequence wraps everything up). There aren't a lot of characters, but their conversations are usually entertaining, and they offer some rest from the puzzle solving. Most of them have a big ego, but it's clearly on purpose and makes their antics all the more funny to watch, in my opinion. the gameplay is actually great if you like point & click adventures. while some puzzles and hints are presented way before you can act on them, leading to some time-wasting, the puzzles are well-made overall (with just a handful being kind of stupid/annoying). Exploration isn't too clunky despite the game's age. As with the story, the final section feels a bit "meh" on the gameplay side, but even then it doesn't harm the game too much, having the grace of being quick, at least. Despite the technical limitations (no ability to skip dialogue lines or cutscenes, well-made but old graphics, being unable to look up your items/notes and solve puzzles at the same time here and there), it's a game I will likely play again. The final section is a blemish, but it's not a deal-breaker and I think most fans of the genre should be able to enjoy this game, not just Nancy Drew fans. I had no problems running this on my Windows 10 PC, but some reviews mention having issues, so make sure to keep an eye out for issues if you decide to get it.

I haven't played a classic ND game in ages. Decided to scratch that itch because the latest two games didn't deliver for me. So I picked Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon cause I was feeling "train" vibes. I honestly forgot how fun these old titles used to be. Especially when compared to the more recent entries. You can finish it in a single afternoon or two sittings if you don't have enough time. No guide needed for this one either because everything is well connected and logical. You just need a pen and a paper to write stuff down because the in game phone camera is kinda useless and very limited.

I love this game so much, it's for sure in my top 5 favorite Nancy Drew games. I love the moodiness of the train, I love all the places you can explore. The puzzles in this aren't too challenging but not super easy either. I cannot recommend this game enough!
