Faithful re-release of the 1997 original. Just as fun as before

This game is very fun and I like that they remade it with all the old stuff. :)

I wish I could give a neutral rating. It's pretty much exactly what you were getting in 1997. Fun and nostalgic for a season but then... it's pretty much exactly what you were getting in 1997. I think $10 is a little much, but not egregious, I'd go for $7-$8 on this one.

This game is really just as good as I remember it!
I was able to beat the "Ultra Grand Championship of the Universe Series" on Medium, which I'm pretty proud of myself for. I could never get past the "Super Entire Nation Tournament" on Easy as a youngster.
It's fun to play on Easy mode for a lax game play experience, which is good to introduce new players to the game. I've even been able to get my non-gaming partner to play, and they usually prefer watch video games. They seemed to really enjoy it and we plan on starting a league team for them.
My niece and nephew seemed to really be into it at first but I think the length of play and outfielding mechanics were unappealing to them. To be fair the games can be lengthy, but to me that was the appeal of the game.
It was a game made back when longer games had a higher pay off. I think newer games in comparison have a quicker and more frequent gratification system implemented to keep players hooked.
I think that this game is great for the nostalgia factor, especially if you played this game back when it was first released. I used to spend hours upon hours putting together teams and playing leagues as a kid, even setting up spectator matches to study how to play better and to strategize.
My favorite characters are: Angela and Tony Delvecchio, Gretchen Hasselhoff, The Webber Twins, Maria Luna (Who has been hitting a surprising amount of HR aka Our Pink Team Home Run Queen), Billy Jean Blackwood, Luanne Lui, and of course the GOAT, Pablo Sanchez (They're all great characters, these are just some of my favorite characters to use.)
I would say my only critique is that the screen size is a bit small. I've been able to get past it and play on the tiny sceen provided. Casting to a TV through HDMI helps a little bit. Some people have suggested changing dimensions or upsizing the scale settings in the display settings but it doesn't seem to work for our laptop. I've tried everything to remedy it. It's really not hard to get used to. In a perfect world, I could scale it to fit my screen. I'd rather have the tiny screen than no game at all lol :)
I'm still very grateful to be able to play this great game that I have so many fond memories playing as a kid and as a preteen, and now as an adult getting to share it with my friends and family who haven't played. 10/10 series and I am so excited for the other games to release as well. Thanks for reading and I would recommend everyone check out Backyard Baseball and the entire Backyard Sports series!

This game is mostly based on nostalgia. It holds up well for a game I enjoyed in the late 90's and now my toddler son enjoys watching me play it. Don't go in expecting anything amazing and the game should hold up fine to reasonable expectations.

I probably wouldn't recommend this game if you haven't already played it 20-odd years ago—there are better $10 baseball video games out there—but $10 to not have to boot up a virtual machine and connect a CD-ROM to play Backyard Baseball was already enough for me. This was my favorite game when I was 8 years old and I am thrilled to have it playable on Steam, warts and all. It has all the same issues as the original game, plus a few new ones, but I am personally willing to look past that for the nostalgia alone.

Simple. Cute. Very cute throwback baseball game with all the nostalgia and quirks of a cheap 90s videogame. This game is fun to play and doesn't take itself to seriously as if you were watching an actual little league game.
After playing this game, I just want to grab my glove, mit and some Topps trading cards and meet the gang at the sandlot like I used to do way back in... well 1997!
For the young-at-heart, lover of America's passtime, this game is for you.
