Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Rising Storm Rune
I slotted this thing early game. But it never even activated on hitting both triggers. I had to actually unlock that skill in the skill tree. Good thing I didn’t pay for this DLC separately.

This isn't really a DLC as much as a cheap cash grab, you can get this for playing the game naturally so I don't recommend buying it, I only have it because it came with the GOTY edition of the game that I bought a year ago.

Adds a rune to the game that allows unlimited use of reach in combat. The rune itself makes all fights incredibly spectacular, which can not help but please the eye of the player.

Please save your money on this piece of DLC. I purchased the Season Pass for this game, and didn't receive this rune on my Steam account. It listed it as for sale, but not a part of my library. The Season Pass states, "Future content including additional Warband Missions, Runes, & Skins: Enhance your weapons with powerful Runes and customize Talion’s appearance with unique skins." This rune should have been part of the Season Pass, and I will be contacting Steam about this. For now I don't recommend buying this. Update 11/13/14 Steam has refunded my money, and the item still appears on my account as owned. I believe this DLC is now showing as being owned by owners of the Season Pass. I'm going to put recommended on my review now. I did play with the rune in game, and it's somewhat decent.

This DLC is fine if you like shortcuts - you can get this in game without paying for it. As it stands I feel this should have been included in the Expansion Pass - but there you go. If you have problems with this purchase go to the installed DLC section and see if it has installed - if not, de-select it and then select it again, wait for Steam to install the DLC - you should then see it as a rune in game.

*Warning* Honestly do not know why they still offer the DLCs separately except to trick people who don't know to buy the GOTY upgrade that includes all of the game's DLC. None of the DLC including this one is worth buying separately when the GOTY upgrade is $9.99. None of the DLC are "great" but if you want a little more don't buy them individually. Just adds a single ruin, don't get by itself.

DLC verdict: Don't get it Comment: This rune gives you the Storm of Urfael, an endgame sword ability that lets you have unlimited amount of finishers while active. Normally you would unlock this skill in the attributes tree where it is located at the bottom and costs 2500 Mirian points. This DLC is part of the Season Pass/Premium Edition/GOTY Edition so you will get it if you bought those. And this way you get to test it. But buying it by itself is nonsense. For the balance of the game, and the fact that this is an unlockable skill in the tree, I recommend against buying (or using) this. ------------------------------------------------------------------ If you liked this DLC review you can find more in my Review Corner.

So when are they going to release more game content instead of a bunch of runes? I already own without amazing runes to help. I mean, they kinda make you a beast to start out with. All the over powered stuff like this rune just make you unstoppable.

TL;DR Save your cash unless you merely want to have the 'Storm of Urfael' ability off by the beginning of your playthroughs. Honestly I regret purchasing this, but this is mostly caused by user error of oversight in terms of not reading the description properly. I read that the rune would enable me to use unlimited combat finishers regardless of having the 'Storm of Urfael' ability, somehow. (I'm running on above 17 hours without sleep, btw. So don't be surprised if I come off as incoherent with my sentences and whatnot, because I very well am). But with that said, I wish It were what I thought it was rather than this now seemingly recycled ability only sold for the purpose of allowing players to use the ability from the start of their playthrough. So in this way, I can't say I'd like to recommend this, so I won't. We used to have what was referred to back in the day as: Cheat Codes. Feels like that'll be left in the past, I guess. I also didn't like how Monolith recycled runes in their free Power of Shadow DLC. Disappointingly unstackable, too. Oh, well. But I get it, I know the point is to have the abilities by the start of your (ideally first) playthrough, and I guess I only spent a mere dollar on this piece of DLC, so.. Can't say I'm upset or anything. Lastly, for those who reportedly claim to not obtaining the rune in-game; you NEED to restart Steam after your purchase before the download for the DLC will begin. That's just how it works. Anyhow, enjoy yourselves in what's been one of the best Middle-earth based games (in my opinion) for a long-long time.

Poorly described. The implication is that you'll have access to unlimited combat finishers, but the description fails to mention that it merely unlocks the ABILITY to get unlimited combat finishers but in a very small window of time. What's worse is that I'd already unlocked the ability to have this small window of unlimited combat finishers already. So I paid money to get something that I already had access to. I hate DLC.
