Concrete is a very interesting and unique classical style exploration game, taking place in a unique setting where many objects are useful tools or offer unique clues.
But before I get into my review, I want to make note of people who play a game for about 0.4 hrs or less, then write a 'review' as if they know anything at all. STOP writing 'reviews' of things you couldn't possibly know, it's useless.
That's why I always ignore reviewers with short play time and try to give a game at least an hour or two BEFORE giving feedback.
At least then my thoughts come from actual in game experience not made up bs.
THE GOOD
The game offers some very open features when dealing with objects and clues.
You can choose to ignore some and focus on others, you can use many objects not just as tools but as clues to the next puzzle. Moreover, the object handling is pretty smooth, considering how much of the environment can be manipulated.
THE BAD
The bad part is that some objects are a bit clumsier to handle than others. I tried to insert a disc i found into the computer to get more clues/play an ingame game, but my disc fell behind the desk.
Whereas grabbing a crow bar and smashing the doors open is fun and easy. Throwing cans at special lock triggers also fun although Q key was something I realised a bit late for throwing.
THE UGLY
If you expected a AAA game with 4k studio graphics then this is not for you, go spend $100 and download Ghost of Tsushima.
Instead, if you wanted a fun to play open exploration game with a unique plot and environment features, then YES this is a fun game with a lot of paths to solve clues and explore the world.
The puzzles and trying to piece together the clues is interesting as they are distinct and many puzzles require other clues. I like clues such as the note left behind on the piano that guided the story line, but especially enjoyed the fact that if I wanted to climb up in the toilet, I could do it with a stack of toilet paper or concrete blocks I found.
I could choose my path and method for getting to the next clue or next part of the intro game.
INTRO VS FULL GAME
The only sad part was that much of what I played in the first hour was the INTRO.
This game is *deep* -- but I barely scratched the surface in my hour, not even getting to the city!
The actual game is the adventures of exploring a unique cityscape which I fear many players won't get to enjoy before moving on.
CONCLUSION
Overall this is an excellent exploration game with a unique bit of plot twist mixing the antiquated and the modern 'digital' reality created. Takes very little time to learn the movement and object handling, and clues range from super easy intro to very interesting and hard.
As an Indi game, I fully support this type of project and hope players will give it the time needed to explore the depth of content in the city!

I'd recommend Concrete if you like atmospheric puzzle-like games and want to explore a creepy, but desolately peaceful world.
It has a really nice mood to it, and it is really satisfying when you figure out a location.
This game is kind of like a Metroidvania, you'll find a locked door, or something that requires a certain tool, then when you find the tool you'll loop back to that point.
After you get into the rhythm of the game, this is satisfying, as you'll constantly have another point of interest you want to return to.
Positives:
The movement feels predictable and snappy, making jumping around the map fun.
The atmosphere is great, and there is a TON of intractable physics items, which are hilarious to throw around, and all make sound. This makes it a lot more immersive, as you can interact with so much stuff. Like turning on sinks, eating old food, hitting the piano, throwing around boxes, books, plates, etc. :)
The level design of the city is quite cool, genuinely interesting to explore.
Negatives:
The game starts out pretty slow, trying to teach you all the mechanics. I think it is worth getting past this part though, as afterwards I got quite into it. So the start is tedious, but imo worth it.
Some of the physical interactions are still a bit glitchy, making carrying certain objects a little annoying.
The game always starts you at the same location when you quit. Doesn't take very long to get back to where you were, as you have already opened all the passage ways, but is inconvenient.
Over all, I really enjoyed the game so far. While it has a few flaws, it is super unique and has a world that is worth exploring.
It is not for everyone though. If you want a creepy peaceful world to explore this is for you! However, it is a slow exploration game, not a horror game. So if you're looking for something scary it isn't the right buy.
Have an amazing day!
