There's a bunch of toilets. One of them holds the key to progress. Some of them hold spiders, which kill you. A few hold nothing. How do you determine which toilet is which? You don't -- you guess, and maybe you get it right, or maybe you die.
Granted, there are a couple of items in this game: you can collect lightbulbs, which you can preemptively throw at the toilets to scare potential spiders away before searching. There are also flash grenades, which you can use to defeat a spider if you "accidentally" choose the wrong toilet. There are never enough to go around, though. So, unless you're lucky and grab a key to the next area early on, at some point you'll just have to guess.
Still, the game is kind of fun. The environments are interesting to explore, and the PS1-era graphics are neat. But when you die to a spider through no fault of your own, it's hard not to get annoyed at playing it.
(Disclosure: I didn't actually beat this, I gave up around 2/3 of the way through and refunded)
