Just finished Gold Rush. I played it back in the day (i.e. back in the 80s) and enjoyed it. This is such an 'adorable wee game'. It's a nice depiction of the era and the graphics were good for the time. The puzzles are not too hard but are challenging enough. I only won 221 points so I'll probably replay it at some point so that I can get a full win. All-in-all, very enjoyable. I love this era of Sierra games (as I have mentioned in my other reviews, once they moved away from the parsing interface and into the point-and-click controls, their games lost a lot of their appeal). Gold Rush was great. I kinda wish they had done an SCI (320x200, 16 colours) remake but, alas, no. I think with the enhanced graphics it would have added to the appeal of the game. There are sites out there that detail the differences (like this one http://forums.sierrahelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=3965) but I can't vouch for the site or anything and I'm not affiliated with it - just did a good ol' Google search and this one popped-up. Anyway, I definitely like this game with all its charming little antics. Of course, it's Sierra, so save often. One thing I will say is you are under time pressure in Brooklyn but don't miss anything out otherwise you can leave Brooklyn without some necessary items. Also, this game boasts three different ways to get to California. I booked passage through Panama Canal but there are other ways (which I have not yet played). Enjoy! :-)
