Playtime: 702 minutes
I’ve started making an effort to go back and play through my steam library. Like many on Steam, I’m guilty of picking up games on sale, with the promise I’ll play them eventually. The last year I’ve made a conscious effort to do that. I started this game 10 years ago, and this year I finally went back and finished it. I was hoping after some time the buggy issues would be resolved, unfortunately that is not the case. The multiplayer is still doesn’t work right, there are still some achievements that you can get based on luck, luck that the level didn’t have a bug and cause you to miss out on something, meaning you need to start the game over again. It's not a BAD game, but it’s not a good game either. It gets repetitive quick, the weapons you can use are very limited, meaning I picked up a weapon at level 2 that I kept until level 12, then a weapon I picked up at level 12 that I used until I beat the game. It does have multiple classes of characters to try, but the levels are so simple it seems like work to try more than one character. Especially if you end up like me, falling through the floor multiple times, needing to start the level over. Some of the class skills feel very different from one another, others feel almost like they are being used to fill a gap. While some of the skills would be fun to use together, most of them burn all your stamina pool, which you can’t grow, and/or you can only have 2-non-weapon skills selected at a time. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend the game.
TLDR Pros:
-multiple classes to add SOME replay value -variety of weapons, equipment and items -easy to understand
Cons:
-Multiplayer doesn't always work -The game has bugs, you can get stuck in places, had to restart levels multiple times because I would fall through the ground, get stuck in a wall or stuck in general -some achievements are buggy -some skills are repetitive or obviously used to give the character X number of skills or just downright useless -there are almost 100 different items to heal you, but nothing to give you stamina back, a way to boost stamina recovery, or even to increase the amount of stamina you have. -the number of ways to heal is vast, but the variety of weapons you can switch to as you level up is limited. Like the priest’s range spiritual attack ? (Crucifix and rosary exclusive) Goodluck, there is no late game weapon to scale with the enemies for that. In fact there is only 3 weapons in the entire game for that
