Aw man where do I start.
First of all, let me give props where it’s due. The art and design of this game is fantastic. That comic book look makes graphics look timeless. Also some interesting (although limited) battle damage designs for Kick-Ass really emphasize the grittiness of this universe.
Now for the bad, I don’t know what the hell was going on in that voiceover room but the voice acting is abysmal. They literally would have been better off using that sound that is used for when NPCs are talking in 8-Bit RPG games as opposed to the voice acting present here.
The gameplay is atrociously clunky and soul sucking. You literally only have a handful of combos and they only use two buttons to perform. Once you figure out that you can stun lock enemies by hitting them with your basic attack in a timed rhythm, the entire challenge of the game goes out the window.
Also, you quite literally don’t have to kick asses if you don’t want to as you can just sprint to the end of the level to get to the main boss fights.
The game is an easy 100% for achievement hunters but beware of the collectibles glitching and not counting in your save file which causes you to run through multiple times to recollect.
They had a lot of promising ideas here but the execution did not hit.
Overall, I would not recommend this game if you are looking for a good game to get into, however I would pick it up as a keepsake but only if it is for less than 2 bucks lol.
