Really cool short and sweet, shockingly competent jrpg. I do have a lot of gripes with the game, mainly that occasionally the character selection for who to cast abilities on would be busted, you can't really do anything to customize the equipment of your party which while understandable led to my yoked out fairy girl carrying every fight in the last realm. There's a very clear final boss that, just didn't happen? Like it was just removed or cut because of development time definitely a shame. Also the writing was not the best, not to say it was bad, but it was played very straight and very stiff. Some spelling errors here and there, a good example for what this looks like is after defeating an evil guy who's headlining the problems in an area, they'll respond after the fight with "I understand now that the thing I did has caused this, I will reflect now, thank you very much." None of this takes away from the charm, but I do feel there's a layer of generic "this is a goofy troll" or "this is a standard fairy village with fairy people that are very PG" just things that don't feel special or unique but also don't take away and feel like bland set-dressing. However there's a lot in the game where it feels like someone had a lot of fun playing around with, it's very apparent in the ghost ship realm, but there'll be something the game will poke fun at such as someone who's never cried, but it's because she hates everything good, so telling a sweet story with no conflict makes her cry. There's a whole section based on ghosts being afraid of getting sick and it's moments like these that just really push the game forward. While some of the designs are just small humanoid with giant exaggerated proportions for the sake of humor, like giant noses and feet, you'll get some really fantastic designs, my favorite being how there's a ghost lady with a very Tim Burton-esque design. My favorite part about this game though is the levelling system, to replace a skill tree the game gives you an appearance modifier table to alter your fae's design, things like wing style choice will make you unlock either a fire or lightning spell. It really helped me connect to the game in a personal way that just makes me wish I could be a little fairy some more doing fairy things. This isn't to mention the actual rpg mechanics which while turn based and suffering from issues of animations repeating over and over to get the extra 20 points of damage to finally go through, it's got a very simple and solid system that reminds me somewhat of final fantasy 13. You get some action points, some moves take up more depending on how strong they are and might even have a cool-down. Then it just goes from there, also having a positioning system that trades defense for offense. Overall just a great time, I'd definitely recommend getting it especially for the less than a dollar it frequently goes for.
