Short was my first thought after finishing the game to 100% in under 50 hours. However, the setting is indeed magical. I've always had a fascination about the Middle East of old and this game brought it to life. It's where Assassin's Creed is supposed to be I guess. Mirage tries to hook back to the very first AC where combat is not the best option. Basim can get his arse kicked really easily in open combat, and it kinda forces you to think and strategize in missions. A good turn from the past 3 games where you would hack 'n slash without tomorrow. When all is said and done, Mirage is another great installment in this fantastic serries. Now, on to the Shadows...

Disappointing, in so many ways. I really don't want to play it anymore! I have played most AC games, and enjoyed them thoroughly. This is an exception! Way too much dialogue, and following NPCs. Jankiest controls I have seen in a game in a long time, and nothing like past games in the series! Also a stuttery mess, even when reporting 60FPS, it will look like it is doing 10 in some places, and there is absolutely no reason for it. The quests are hard to track sometimes because your map markers will disappear. The fighting has been complicated over the simple controls of past games in the series. It's just very awkward, and repetitive. I was looking forward to playing this game, and if I hadn't messed around with the graphics settings so much to try and get rid of the stuttering, I would be able to refund it. Just don't, not even on sale! This is a terrible frustration of a game for an AC fan that owns almost every title in the series. This is the only one that I actually regret buying, even at 60% off.

Can't properly review or recommend this game when it's literally unplayable. Have about 4.5 hours into the game, and suddenly Mirage nor any other AC game in the franchise aside from Syndicate will launch, and that's only because Syndicate was purchased and downloaded through Ubisoft Connect and turning off the internet seemed to fix the game and allowed it to launch. Ubisoft needs to drop the Ubisoft Connect verification. If EA can offer their games through Steam without needing to go through verification through the EA app, Ubisoft can and should do it too. It's really seeming like it's an issue on either their or Steam's end, but it sucks that a potential server issue is keeping me from playing my offline, single player game. This is exactly why people pirate games, and will continue to. PC gaming is supposed to be about freedom, but most of these studios are doing everything they can to shackle you into one choice or another.
نعمل في الظلام لخدمة النور. نحن المستترون

Score: ٧/١٠
Assassin’s Creed Mirage puts you in the shoes of Basim, a familiar face for those who played Valhalla. Set in the heart of 9th-century Baghdad, Mirage aims to return the franchise to its stealth roots.
Story
The story is interesting enough, following the familiar "take down the Order" formula we've seen in many previous entries. It’s serviceable, not groundbreaking but it gets the job done. Unless you’ve played Valhalla, the ending might leave you confused, as it heavily ties into events from that game and its DLCs. I had to watch an explanation video to fully understand it, and to be fair, once you do, it all connects quite well. One standout addition to the immersion is the Arabic dub. It’s a rare sight in AAA games and honestly one of the main reasons I bought the game. For non-Arabic speakers, it’s a great touch. For Arabic speakers, however, the dialogue can feel awkward at times, as if directly translated word-for-word but still, it's a commendable effort and I'm glad it's there. Another big highlight of Mirage is how much interesting history and culture from the Islamic Golden Age and Arabian civilization you get to experience. From the architecture and attire to historical figures and institutions like the House of Wisdom, the game offers a rich cultural backdrop that sets it apart from previous entries.
Gameplay
Mirage goes all in on stealth, which is a refreshing shift from recent entries. The dense city design of Baghdad provides plenty of opportunities for parkour and sneaky approaches. Combat, however, feels overly simplified, you get only one weapon type and barely any abilities. It’s clear that combat isn’t meant to be the main focus, and honestly, that’s fine given the game’s direction.
Graphics & Performance
Visually, Mirage is stunning. The world design and atmosphere are excellent, and Baghdad feels alive and beautifully crafted. That said, performance can be a bit rough during cutscenes and in a few crowded areas. Some cutscenes also feel a bit cheap, with occasional janky animations from AC Odyssey days.
Completion Time & Final Thoughts
It took me about 35 hours to 100% complete the game, and that’s honestly one of Mirage’s biggest strengths. It doesn’t drag on for 100+ hours like the recent titles. The quests are focused, the story doesn’t overstay its welcome, and the smaller world is a blessing in disguise.

Had initial issues getting Mirage to run as Ubi-Connect kept requesting an activation key. The issue stemmed from not running the Steam exe as admin even though I thought it was. I'll right a proper review once I get through a decent chunk of the game. Currently enjoying the game hence the thumbs up. Still the same old formula but with a mix of some of the old and new mechanics to freshen things up a bit as a franchise. Kind of like a wet wipe instead of a shower :D but enough to be welcome.

AC Mirage is one of the more sized down version of entry to the Assassin's Creed Franchise. It has lesser content compared to Odyssey & Valhalla. Overall a step in the right direction, reminiscence of the old games. I had a much better experience playing through AC Mirage as the contents and gameplay doesn't feel as tedious compare to previous entries of the series. The story is meh but I do like the new and improve feel of the overall game. It's less janky and the parkour feels more fluent. The combat is pretty much the same, now focuses more on the parry & counter-attacks. To be honest, I really enjoyed the simplier playstyle like the ones in AC 2 & AC Brotherhood so the mechanics in AC Mirage is right up my alley. Yes, the collectibles are still there, no need to worry. It's gotten easier to get them. There is however some minor bugs which I've encountered throughout my playthrough. It isn't game breaking but it'll require me to restart the game. The soundtracks are good and I really wished they wouldn't capped the frame rates of the cutscenes to 30 fps. It just ruins the gameplay experience. You can clearly see the transition of gameplay to the cutscenes. Overally the game is a solid 6.5/10 for me. It's nothing new, it's an ok game with some minor improvements here and there. If you like how old Assassin's Creed games are played then this is recommended for you. Definitely try to get it during discount periods as it's often heavily discounted. If you prefer the more RPG-element type like the ones in Valhalla & Odyssey, this might not be for you.

Feels rushed & not polished. The story is not interesting at all. On the positive side, all i would say is that it feels good roaming with altair's outfit, it feels like an ac1 remake at some points and this is good. Therefore, if you want a really good game, which combines a good story, graphics & gameplay maybe you should try something else. Instead, if you want just to mess around in a beautiful city dressed as altair, this is a great pick on sale.

Everything in this game has been done better in the series before. Its not terrible but the writing is very mid and its not very historically accurate.

This game is by no means perfect. There are tons of weird movement issues and the game does not feel as fluid as even Black Flag. However, this game is a HUGE step back in the right direction for the AC franchise. If this game is a sign of what is to come you can sign me up for future titles.
