Fortunately, i played the other broken lore games, first. They, were very good... this on the other hand, is what happens when a hippo has a bowel movement. where did you go wrong? hmmm. dont go back to this game, its dreadful, and why were there so many pregnant statues? i am confusion. all in all, 1.7/10, wouldn't recommend. you owe me an apology.

Brokenlore LOW is a game about honour, and whether fame and fortune is worth more. I really enjoyed my time with this game, and will probably need to do another play-through to see the hidden message explaining the ending. Some good chase sequences and excellent atmosphere, but a warning, make sure you have adequate hardware to run this game, and pretty much all of Brokenlore games, they are very demanding on the GPU(had a few crashes). I recommend lowering down resolution percentage and medium or high settings depending on hardware. My only negatives were the performance issues and the fact that some achievements are locked behind deaths, so yes this game will require multiple play throughs if you are an achievement hunter or have OCD. I would like to suggest to the developer a chapter select for at least completing the game, would make things a lot easier if you want easier achievement hunting or just want to play from a certain point, and please try and optimise your games better :). I await the next game eagerly 8/10

If you are into indie psychological horror games, this is definitely one to check out! The atmosphere had me on edge the entire time. In this game, they definitely tackle real life monsters. At first I felt like everything was moving fast in the story-line. But when I started thinking more on it, I realized that sometimes you never feel like you have the time to react or think when you are going through something. We like to think we know how we would react in certain situations, but you don't until you're in it. I will say, there definitely needs to be a trigger warning in the game. There is one they have on this store page but I think it should also be in the game. Also, the ability to go back to certain chapters would've been nice. Overall, I definitely recommend this game. 8/10

At first, I thought Brokenlore: LOW was trying to capitalize on Silent Hill’s eerie vibe, but it carves its own path, which I appreciated. The atmosphere starts off average but grows creepier as you explore, creating an immersive experience. While it leans heavily into the walking simulator genre, it weaves in just enough story-driven action to keep things engaging. That said, the game feels like the opening chapter of a larger narrative, as Serafini Productions plans to tie its story to future releases.
Pros
- Cost: Affordable, making it accessible for most players. - Playtime: Short (a few hours), perfect for those juggling work, school, or life. It’s ideal for streamers needing content for a quick session or players wanting a concise, compelling story. - Linux-Friendly: Runs out of the box, no tweaks needed. - Thematic Depth: Rooted in Japanese folklore, offering a fresh take for fans of yokai and cultural storytelling.
Cons
- Exploration: Limited opportunities for deeper exploration, which left me wanting more. - Graphics Optimization: Some areas need polish. On my AMD 7600XT (a budget but capable GPU), I had to lower settings in certain scenes to maintain smooth framerates and preserve immersion. - Story Premise: The main character’s motivation for ending up in the game’s setting felt unclear as to how it didn't raise any red flags, though this may tie into the broader narrative or industry context. - Playtime: While the short length is a pro for some, it could disappoint players expecting a 10–15-hour experience.
Summary
Brokenlore: LOW nails a creepy vibe that ramps up into some intense moments where you’re legit running for your life. It’s mostly a walking sim with a bit of object interaction, so don’t expect a ton of action or a super long game like Resident Evil or Silent Hill. If that’s your thing, you might wanna look elsewhere. But if you’re into Japanese folklore, the yokai stuff here is super cool, and the short length makes it a quick, spooky ride. Can’t wait to see how this ties into Serafini Productions’ other games!

The definition of Horror: an intense feeling of fear, shock, or disgust. I feel like this game hit EVERY SINGLE PART OF THE DEFINITION. The game is a great visual story about some really tough topics that are very real that is done in a tasteful yet disturbing fashion. When I played this game, there were several moments of intense interactions where I felt genuine fear and dread. This studio is creating some very astonishing games. Make certain to purchase this game, if you are a horror game enthusiast. I do believe you will be impressed.

The game is not optimized whatsoever. I had to lower my resolution several settings down so that I could walk in the main town without it stuttering, with the graphics settings on medium. Never ever had to do that before with an indie game. Still ended up stuttering again during the final boss. I love playing short horror story games like this, whether the story is good or bad, but I'd like to be able to actually PLAY it without it being so choppy. Skip this entry of BrokenLore and play the Don't Watch one instead. It is both optimized and has a better story.
