Disappointing - you are just buying a DOSBOX port to a game you might have played as a kid like me. This was a favorite of mine back in the early SSI days. However this version fails around 1863 pretty regularly - would have thought that the seller would've fixed obvious errors like this. I'd suggest to save your money but at least you dont have to answer the annoying "what page is the first word "TBD" on"!

This is a game from back in the day when you had to read the manual before playing.
But here steam includes NO MANUAL!
I played this game back in the day so it's no big deal to me. But if you haven't you're going to have to figure it all out on the fly.
The game itself puts a heavy focus on the politics and the politicians of the conflict. More so than almost any other strategic level civil war game I can think of.
But the campaign screen is simplistic and poorly done.
It's too bad. With a decent combat system this could have been one of the greats.
In the end i cannot recommend this game to modern users.
