UPDATE: the bug was either fixed or I finally got past my issue and it has been going great since then :) Surprisingly in opposition with the other reviews about this game, I am actually thoroughly enjoying it. However I should be saying I WAS enjoying it because my game bugs out and crashes during the Ajeel fight in CHAPTER 1 when a Follow-Up attack menu pops up. The game just crashes every time and puts me at the campfire right before it when resuming. The first time I made it all of the way to the second phase, and now I can't even finish the first phase. Please fix this game breaking bugs are SO annoying I JUST WANT TO PLAY THE GAME.

Major combat changes from the first game. Even though there are 2 fewer active member slots this time (down from 5 to 3), it feels more like everyone is working together in a fight with the switch to an ABS-style combat system and the fights feel more action-packed. Much better stability on PC than the first game. Fairy Tail 2 is different enough from the first game that I feel like I can go back and play the first game again if I'm looking for a change in combat system without feeling like I'm playing a 'lesser' version of FT2. Most importantly, Barrel-kun is still in the game, and has been moved in to the Fairy Tail guild hall where it has always belonged.

I'm not saying this game is "bad", but it can't compare with the first one. The combat system is a bit messy and unfortunately there isn't many side quests. Still, it's a good game and a must-play for any Fairy Tail fans.

This is definitely NOT the same kind of game as the first one IMHO this game is very easy and quick to get through as the character stories are based on level and not who you partner with Great music (I love Irish jig/RPG music), great open world experience, character selection, and player options for every type of player; I'm the type who loves to explore and get through the story so story mode is perfect for me but you can make the battles more difficult if you like Monster Hunter type games too. I just started and it's already super enjoyable! It already has many secrets to find and rewards exploration which is fun for me :D Something I don't care for is battling with characters you don't always select in your group but that's just to be more accurate with the story. HOWEVER there are parts where it's not accurate with the story. For example, I had Natsu and Lucy in my party before the Jacob battle that leaves some of the story out because Natsu was supposed to be in the infirmary according to the anime. It did not show the part where Lucy/her clock spirit saves Natsu However, you can gather most of the 2nd part of the story based on the game, but I would recommend watching the anime.
