Very sweet, and mind numbingly easy. Perfect for kids, or very easily entertained adults.

I recommend this to you if:

You want to play a relatively simple game with children (up to four players supported!)
You're a big fan of the Care Bears and want any content of them you can get
You want a simple, colorful, easy story in between your serious games
Don't mind the short playtime of about 3-4 hours for adult players
The "can my child play it" section All the info you might need if you consider buying this for (you and) children:

The dialog is NOT voice acted, so players need to either be already able to read, or have the text read to them
In addition, the intro's dialog auto-progresses, sadly, so you'll need to be able to read it quickly enough or have it read to you
The controls (on gamepad) are analog stick and three buttons, playing with directional pad and remapping the buttons in-game is NOT possible and you'll need to do it in Steam Input settings
Don't mind the short playtime of about 3-4 hours for adult players
In addition to the analog stick, two buttons need to be pushed at once occasionally (jumping and grabbing)
There is NO permanent defeat / game over! You either restart from checkpoints or at the same screen you were defeated in
In multiplayer, the other player can "revive" defeated players quickly
Later levels feature typical platformer hazards like "breaking" platforms and slippery ice
Review "Care Bears to the Rescue" is a relatively simple platformer based on the "Unlock the Magic" show, featuring many of its themes and characters either as playable, enemies, stickers or background characters. The game is relatively simple: You jump, you run, you use your belly beams to defeat a relatively low number of enemies. The game is quite easy and child-friendly in that there is no permanent defeat, most enemies are slow and passive or telegraph their attacks very clearly. Due to each bear having their own special trait, one of them being self-healing, one other helping in finding hidden stickers, the game can be made even easier. The worlds are varying and colorful, like the characters, the story is a simple "light has to stop darkness" that very well fits the story of singe episodes of the show. The only few parts that are a little bit harder and might be a challenge to children are typical platformer hazards like platforms that disappear after some seconds, very young or very new players might require occasional help with this part. At the end of each world is a shoot-em-up-style boss battle. These are equally easy, especially as you respawn immediately upon defeat. They, sadly, are quite monotone and far too slow and too long for their own sake. I do enjoy the general idea of this genre mix, though. Stickers are optional collectibles. Compared to other, similar games they're relatively easy to find once you have a bit of platformer experience. There are no "mean tricks" to hide them. Steam content:

Sadly the game lacks any Steam profile items, but it does have achievements
For the multiplayer achievement, it's enough to connect a second input just once, run into an obstacle to be defeated three times, and then revive the "other player", this way both multiplayer achievements can be obtained in about one or two minutes without even completing the level
-- So, do you want a colorful platformer that requires some more skill and harder, hidden stuff? You might want to go with games like "Castle of Illusion" instead. Do you just want some colorful, relaxing jumping without despair? Or do you want to introduce young players to platforming? Or are you just a really big fan of the Care Bears? Asides from short playtime and relatively simple mechanics, this game really doesn't do anything "wrong", asides from its lack of key remapping and accessibility options. If the price is okay for 3 - 4 hours (for adult players with platforming experience) for you, I'd say it's recommendable. 🙂

A very cute game with some lovely visuals and nice music. Great to co-op with a kid. It's fairly easy and not too anxiety inducing. However the level design is sometimes off, causing the characters to fall off screen or the camera doesn't seem to follow them. The 3D design sometimes makes it difficult to see where to jump or where something is, but that is a minor inconvenience. A lot of cute fun if you like the Care Bears, definitely worth it if you can get it on sale! My kid loves it.

Care Bears to the Rescue is a really sweet, fairly simple, and nicely packaged game. It's polished and controls well, and I think it'd be an awesome choice to play through it you had young children. The co-op is a nice benefit, and for very young children you can have them choose one of the Care Bears that has regenerating health or chance to dodge hits to make the game even more forgiving. It captures the atmosphere of Unlock the Magic (the latest Care Bears show) quite well. The music is pretty nice too, with each world having its own theme (each level in that particular world will use the same music). The bears all look adorable and the colour palette the game uses is absolutely delightful to look at. I'm really glad to see some Care Bears games being made based on the new show, and this paired with the recent Care Bears Roblox experience (Caring Quest) makes me excited for even more games in the future :)
