In the end, Chains of Freedom is… fine. It’s neither a disaster nor a revelation — just a middling entry in a genre already packed with standout titles. The combat system works well enough, the sound design is polished, and a few ideas bring a breath of fresh air, even if not all of them hit the mark. The weakest link is definitely the story, weighed down by unlikable characters and a narrative pace that’s far too rushed. That being said, if you’re a fan of turn-based tactics games and looking for something new to try over a weekend or two, Chains of Freedom might be worth a look. Just don’t expect a revolution.

What kind of a stupid @ss game has you spend resources, which are a limited throughout the game and you have no chance of replacing, on characters that end up dead or betraying you MULTIPLE TIMES?!?!?! The first time it happens, d@mn that sucks. The SECOND time it happens, I stopped playing this dumb@ss game. What a joke, don't buy this terrible game. Who wrote this story line??? Worst story line of any game I've ever played and the voice acting is atrocious.

I gotta admit; while the game seemed pretty interesting, the horrible voice acting just pulls me out the second I get going. The game seems mechanically competent, but like always, this is another game chasing the XCOM formula and not doing it all that well. Oh well. 6/10

Enjoyed the game. Feel like I explored most areas and rarely skipped a battle. Was surprised when I beat it in 14 hours on normal (once I found an OP combination of skills the game got way easier)

A fun game to play for about 10-15 hour I'd say, but the towards the end it feels like the devs lost their creativity. I was hoping for different ending choices and maybe some level of replayability, but none of that was available, so it makes the game less attractive.
4/5 that's my score, would recommend it the game is on 30% or higher sale.

The game is very short but I enjoyed it very much. I like XCOM type turn based games and its more simplified then xcom. I wish the story was more complex and longer.

Very enjoyable game and fairly priced.
I liked the variety of skills and weapons. You actually have choices here and all are viable.
Get it if you like your tactical game not overly complicated

Took me 26 hours to complete on the hardest difficulty and i enjoyed every minute, worth every penny of the asking price.
All of the playable characters are different enough and the crystal upgrade system allowed for some really fun and synergistic builds. The story was pretty good too.
No crashes, no bugs and left me wanting more 10/10

Solid start, a little squad, low on resources, create a build with crystals, find a better weapons, but then it began downhill to straightforward one way road to finish.

It's a game in which a bit of exploration and uncovering the story behind the dystopian world meets well-thought-out turn-based combat and character builds. It has some original ideas and doesn't overdo anything. It’s reminiscent of Gorky 17, although there are far fewer "puzzle fights" and more of a solid, standardized TB combat.

You need to keep an eye out for the unbeaten path here and there to acquire better weapons and equipment.

It has the occasional puzzle or a twist on the usual combat routine, but nothing too complex — just spicing it up a bit.

There’s a lot of run-of-the-mill TB combat with the usual tropes (meant in a good way — it’s a no-nonsense system where a 100% hit chance exists alongside the 45%-95% ones).

The story is passable, with a comfy, not-overdone "totalitarian dystopia vs. some 'misguided rebels'" kind of writing.

Builds can be devised in truly different ways — and they all work (if you’ve used your brain, that is).

Normal is normal. What a relief! Hard is pretty hard, easy is a breeze, and normal offers a competent challenge while still letting you make mistakes.
Summary:
Being a fan of TB combat and meaningful exploration, I can say I would want more games like this. It’s a simpler, uncomplicated game, almost as if drawing hindsight from an era when “simple” meant “simply elegant.” I like it.
