This is based on my first impressions, so I may come back and add or change it later, but right off the bat I like it.
You're building a small town, and there is a maze of trenches outside your walls from which monsters attack your front gate.
So far I have two kinds of basic towers, arrow and mage, but mage seems to have five or six varieties, whose value varies by season I think. There is some sort of elemental magic that I haven't really gotten into yet.
There is research, and building upgrades. The research tree looks pretty small, but I am hoping it will grow over time. If not, it will be pretty disappointing.
The look is solid, the animation is good. The town building is very basic so far, doesn't seem to be any synergy between the buildings and the terrain or other buildings. Not a big deal, but it can be nice.
The UI is okay, and after having lost the first game, I am certainly interested in going back and learning more. A fairly solid TD light game, in that the tower defense aspect isn't very robust, no target selection, no pathing, etc., but it's still fun so far.
One thumb up.
AMENDMENT: Already found some extra depth, between levels you earn elemental and tech points that can be spent on building up your starting point. Very nice.
AMENDMENT: Okay, about two hours in or so, and I think I've already hit the end of this one. I enjoyed it, and I paid less than a buck so I got my money worth, but it does feel like an unfinished stub, or an experiment with low expectations.
