I'm a big fan of Endoparasitic and while the sequel improves on some stuff, I can't recommend it because of a couple of major issues.
[olist]

The new inventory system is a MAJOR QoL downgrade imo. Scroll up for inventory was perfect, but the new system of dragging a bag behind you is terrible. Sometimes you end up with the bag under you and you can't quite click to access it.
But the worst issue is if you get jumped by an enemy and go to quickly grab a gun, but misclick on your bag - you end up sitting there in your inventory whilst the enemy attacks you and it is absolutely infuriating.
This problem is massively amplified by the introduction of these new challenge sequences where the enemies can move really quickly. In these cases, you have a fraction of a second to react between an enemy entering your field of vision and attacking you, so you do need to snap aim to get your gun out; misclicks are inevitable and the game punishes you for it in the most frustrating way here.
Then to close, you now have to click a button in the top right, which is way slower than the old scrolling down system; so if you do misclick on the bag, you're guaranteed to have a bad time.

I don't like the flick to reload between each shotgun shot. I don't think it feels good when you're fighting multiple enemies up close and occasionally you might flick in a way that doesn't count as a reload, which is also very annoying.
As an aside, I don't really like the new shotgun either. If you want to point the gun in the direction you're moving your mouse, you have to fully extend your arm (otherwise it will be at some angle away from the direction of mouse movement). This isn't great because if you fully extend your arm, the arm length + the shotgun length puts the end of the barrel at the edge of your vision, so you can't see what you're aiming at. Usually, you'll fire without fully extending your arm, so the gun isn't quite pointing in the direction you moved your mouse. During the challenge sequences, when the enemies are super quick, this makes snap aiming really hard and it is annoying when you miss.

Actually I just don't like the challenge system with the fast enemies at all. You do not have enough time to react. Where combat in the first game felt balanced, this seems unfair and stressful.

Invisible enemies? The arm/leg enemies are sometimes sitting on environment corpses but the colour is so similar, I cannot see them. There have even been times when I've stopped, investigated a corpse, decided I'm sure there's no limb enemy there, then moved over it only to immediately take damage because I was hit by an enemy that may as well have been invisible. Hard to spot is one thing, but this is bs.

The crafting system is ok, but is unnecessary and a waste of time. I have also ended up with a large stash of fountain pens but none of the other stuff I need to combine them with.

This is a minor irk. The new system where you can store supplies in the elevator between levels is a good idea and is welcome, but BROTHER this is surely the worst possible implementation. It's tedious to try and keep different items separate in the elevator, but you have to because it's a nightmare trying to pick a specific item up when everything is overlapping. Why can't there just be a simple chest with inventory slots to keep it neat?
[/olist]

I do want to end off by saying there are a lot of things to like about Endoparasitic 2:

The story is still good

The voice acting is still good, perhaps better

Music is better

Art is noticeably improved (with a notable exception that Karis is laughably bigger than Cynte for some reason, which looks unnatural)

New enemy types are interesting

Weapon upgrades are nice

Backtracking in elevator is a nice feature
And surely other stuff I've forgotten.
I think the dev is great and I enjoy their devlogs on YouTube, so I really want to support them. But if you've played the first game, these problems are impossible to overlook and bring the whole experience down.
If the inventory system ever gets fixed, I'd highly recommend. If not, just stick to the first game.

As someone who played and thoroughly enjoyed EndoParasitic 1, it pains me to say that this is was an absolute letdown. I’ve never been more disappointed in a sequel than this. That being said the game isn’t terrible by any means, it ran very well and the gameplay itself is pretty much the same as the first game, which is fine. But everything outside of that just left me feeling like this was a massive step backwards.
1: The game has a MASSIVE focus on crafting. Now let me be clear when I say that the crafting system isn’t bad at all, that’s not what I have a problem with. What I do have a problem with is how the game basically forces crafting on you. The only items that you will ever find while scavenging is nothing but crafting materials, you will never find anything pre-made for you. ( With the exception of the times the game introduces you to those items, the game will give you some ammo to start with when you get the handgun or the shotgun for example. )
I know the benefit of having a crafting system like this is that it allows the player to pretty much choose what resources they want, but at the same time I thought this made the game a little too easy with resource management. I had an over abundance of handgun ammo at one point. That and I personally really don’t like having to rely on crafting for everything I want, but that’s just me.
2: All of the levels feel exactly the same, and reuse the same exact gimmicks repeatedly. This was my biggest “what the heck” moment I had during my play through. In EndoParasitic 1, the game was divided up into separate chapters, and each one had there own unique gimmick and challenges. ( chapter 1 got the player used to the game, chapter 2 had the corpse traps and so on. ) EndoParasitic 2 does away with the chapters and just has individual levels flavored has “floors” that you travel to by evaluator.
Ok! That’s fine, I’m not against that idea. But a few floors in and the game treats you to a flesh door that you must open to progress, which has the side effect of powering up all the enemies in the level. After I finished it I thought “that was a cool encounter,” only to then be surprised that the game pulled the exact same gimmick on me next level. And the next level… And the next one… And the one after that.
It felt VERY repetitive after the first couple of times and it makes all of these levels feel like a slog to get through. So imagine my relief when the game FINALLY throws something different at you by having a level where you have to traverse it in the dark… Only for the game to then repeat that for the next ten levels, AGAIN!
This is what made me throw in the towel on this game, as it felt like a very baffling game design decision to just come up with one or two gimmicks for levels, only to then repeat those exact same gimmicks for all the following levels. That would be like if Devil May Cry 3 forced you to fight Cerberus at the end of every level on top of everything else you had to do. And it’s the main reason this game is such a massive letdown for me.

Unfortunately not as good as the first game. If you haven't played it already, get that one instead.
All of the fun, frantic, one-handed gameplay from the first one seems watered down and somehow more clunky. A few examples:
-You no longer remove the empty casings from each slot of the revolver and replace each one, instead you just drag all the bullets into a single slot and then they're automatically emptied when you fire.
-Scrolling to open your inventory is replaced with a physical bag attached to your torso that you have to reach for, which is often hidden under your body or your gun, making it annoying to open.
-The map is now on your watch, so you open it by clicking with your hand in front of your face. I usually enjoy when a game mechanic is a physical object in the game world like that, but in this case it means you're probably going to accidentally open the map whenever you try to interact with something that's in front of your face.
The worst change, though, is the introduction of a crafting system. In the first game, you just find bullets and syringes; in this one, you find pens and nitrocellulose which you use to craft bullets, weak syringes and nitroglycerine which you use to craft strong syringes, etc. I guess this is supposed to add to the survival horror kinda vibe but it just doesn't work at all. Crafting is so boring and tedious and really only serves to fill your inventory with junk. On top of that, having too much in your inventory makes you move extremely slowly. Your inventory persists from one level to the next so you're clearly supposed to be strategically thinking ahead when you craft items but that's actually pointless because they give you way more than you'll ever need. Even when playing on the hardest difficulty, I found myself dumping my inventory at the start of each level just to avoid being over-encumbered. Each level starts and finishes in the same elevator, so after a dozen or so levels, my elevator was full to the brim with bullets and syringes that I'm never gonna use. Even if I did need to go back and use them (which seems to be what the game wants me to do), crawling all the way back to the start of the level is just tedious.
The enemies in this one aren't as good either. The little rats that zoom towards you once alerted have been replaced with goofy looking dismembered arms and legs that behave exactly like the normal enemies. Speaking of the normal enemies, they're now weird sideways crawly guys so that you can see their whole body from a top down view, instead of the walking guys from the first game. I understand wanting to have their whole body visible so you can do headshots and stuff, but having walking enemies while you were stuck crawling was pretty integral to the horror vibe of the first game. That feeling of helplessness isn't really there when the enemies are crawling around the exact same way you do.
Also, the rogue-like mode from the first game is completely absent.
I hate to be so negative since I really enjoyed the first game, so I will say that the terminator-style shotgun reload is a great addition.
