Very simple and fun journey to destroy an (evil?) empire. Each character plays very differently, and have fun mechanics. The trial and error - ing different builds is very fun and rewarding.

A fun little "anti-colony" game where the focus is to kill enemies and wreck as much havoc as possible to gain levels and unlock new abilities that let you do the aforementioned game play loop even more efficiently. The only complaint I have is getting stuck on rubble scenery after you destroy a building or tower and have to take an extended period clearing a path to progress. Super fun and unique!

Good highs, but the lows are awful. The balance is all over the place. Some characters are free wins, meanwhile others are a nightmare to play. For example, all the cult leader needs to do is successfully mind control a few elites/bosses in the first few maps and he's already won. Meanwhile, the necromancer struggles because her minions are nowhere near as beefy or strong. The terrain generation for the dwarf caves is atrocious, especially for summon builds. You have to manually destroy the terrain to build a tunnel since minions can't jump across holes. This translates to holding a directional key for a few minutes - very monotonous. Certain elites and named enemies are also very frustrating to play against. There are two in particular: one that revives dead enemies, and another that has an aoe heal. Good luck if both or multiples of them decide to spawn together. It's a great concept but it definitely needs more balancing. Wait for a few patches.

Surprisingly competent game about leading a horde to kill the enemies, minion gameplay is realistically the best part of the game. Buff Drunn'ko mt beloved

It's a fun little game that has some rouge like elements, it's like a vampire survivor style combat but you get to choose what to attack and put points into for level ups. there isn't a lot to the game right now but i think you can easily get your 5 bucks worth out of the game. I picked it up and have been enjoying it a lot and can easily see this game going up in price down the road when more is added so i would get it now.

As I am writing this the game is in early access. So far it has been a pleasant game to play. I am not at all a fan of the "survivor" genre as many of the games feel uninspired and lazy, yet I have had a good amount of fun playing BtE. The mechanics are good to work with, I haven't had any game breaking bugs, and it's easy to get into. I am definitely hoping more content is added such as a longer campaign, larger maps, and more enemy types. The playable characters all have super unique mechanics and some are more difficult to master than others. I am excited to see what comes from this game.

A good rogue-like with destructible environments in which you play as the villain. The destruction aspect and the growth of power is feels good for most characters, and every character feels unique. Even better, most of these characters have several viable means of playing them. Some characters definitely felt a bit better than others, but the meta progression of achievements can help fill in some of those weaker character's power gaps. All in all I can heartily recommend if you want some destructive pixelated fun.

Looked fun at first, but there are severe balancing issues and the ending basically kicked me in the teeth. Severe Balancing Issues: Lots of cool abilities and characters, many of the abilities have a toggle for auto aim and such, but the way that it is currently running you never have enough mana to always have even half of your abilities on. Essentially you're always in a severe mana deficit. In addition, the leveling makes it so that you usually gain a flat damage to a spell/ability but the mana cost increases as well, and you're so behind in mana from the beginning game that you almost always have to devote anywhere between 10-15 of your hard earned "general" levels into mana recovery or cheaper spell cost. Counter intuitively, leveling up your active spells is often not worth it. If you level up your strongest spell, its usually a flat damage rate up (+1 for example) and your mana cost increases too (+1). You use up almost all your mana (unless you're a summon build, but that has its own challenges) so you have to sink your general skill points into mana recovery or cheaper spell. The damage increase from leveling the active spell isn't worth it, because it very easily becomes too expensive to afford to cast more than a few times. Without meta progression and decent items, its actually better to NOT level up the active skill and to increase your damage via the "damage" general skill, which provides a percentile boost. This is an issue when you are forced to invest so many of your general skills into other essential level ups: mana recovery/cheaper spell/speed/health regen/faster casting time/etc. There are builds where you can just safely and painstakingly slowly cheese every enemy. While other builds without significant meta progression is impossibly infeasible. Meta progression is in the form of legacy items and additional general skill points based off of the number of achievements you got. This hurts when I spent hours on a good run, got to the final area, and found a hell forge (reroll items). I dropped my full inventory of good loot and grabbed the trash loot to reroll them, when I got attacked by the boss and killed him. The game ends right then and there and forces you to exit to the main scene. I lost everything. Which is a punch in the gut, especially as every other area allows you to leave and move on after you have the opportunity to stay for as long as you like.

This one of those games, that you think... hmmmn.... and then spend 4+ hours non stop of play, because it's so fricking good. <3 I love it. After 3 runs, I finally managed to get a victory with Necromancer. Game is harder than it looks ;) <3 Cheers Dev <3
