I enjoyed this game quite a lot. Expelled tells the story of a girl in a highschool in the 20s whom is framed for another girl smashing a window and then jumping out of it, and your job is to save her from this predicament. Expelled functions sort of like a groundhog day, where you reset the day each time your deeds come to an untimely end by being expelled, although you do keep certain information / dirt on people between runs. The core gameplay loop thus then becomes a surprisingly addictive and satisfying question of, "well if I go here, and then do this, and then move here and do this, will that help me or uncover new information?" with you slowly working out the way to save yourself from your untimely fate as well as the other mysteries surrounding the school. If you enjoy a good mystery game with a visual novel style, I would recommend Expelled.

Funniest game I've played in years! This game had me giggling all the time while discovering the many possibilities.
It improves greatly on 'Overboard!' in many ways. I especially liked the mechanic where you find ways to unlock new interactions, which was integrated perfectly into the narrative as well. I think explaining this mechanic would be too much of a spoiler, though!

Like Elsinore, a self-aware time-looper with some refined twists and reveals. A delight!

Oh dear, oh dear. Gorgeous. Absolutely obsessed with the nice-naughty mechanic, you get worse and worse and your choices get worse and worse and EVEN MR SNUGGLES becomes mean...

Originally left it with a positive review, but comparing the prices to Expelled and Overboard and thinking about it more, it just doesn't seem worth it.
Overboard is the first game of the series, costs a bit less (though they just increased it recently) and plays almost exactly the same as expelled.
I would suggest trying Overboard before expelled, because this game expands on absolutely nothing compared to the original, it's practically a copy but with a different story, which is fine if you loved the mechanics of the first game, but most people will probably find it get stale quite fast.
Do not get this game unless you loved Overboard, because Overboard is the better of the 2 in my opinion.
That said, I am praying they make this a trilogy and really put in more effort in the next one, another unique story but with more developed mechanics would be fantastic.
TLDR: The art is good and the story is fine, but a different story doesn't matter much when the mechanics are near identical, either buy overboard or don't buy either unless you loved Overboard.

This is one of the best games I have played in a while. Even when managing to not get expelled there are other endings and twist to the story. Highly recommend!

Inkle does it again, in this excellent sequel to Overboard! that expends on that game's concept in quite a few fun ways.
Get in Trouble, It’s Worth It
I’m a big fan of Inkle, and Expelled! might be my favorite. The characters are a delight, the writing is sharp, and I had more than a few giggles along the way. It’s like living through a very British, very chaotic school day where every decision spirals into either disaster or brilliance.
This isn’t a game that rewards playing it safe. So here’s my advice:

Don’t be afraid to be bad - blackmailing, lying, stealing… it’s all part of the fun.

If you feel stuck, do something weird - break the rules, try a new place, talk to someone at a different time.

Shenanigans (spoiler-ish, but fun):

Put on Nat’s slippers

Visit the shed

Gossip about your math teacher

Get into a swear fight with the Owl

Don’t miss Latin class. Trust me.

Crawl under the chapel (yep)

This game encourages curiosity and chaos in the best way. Highly recommended if you like branching stories, cozy mysteries, or just causing elegant trouble in knee socks.
