Card Summoner is a fun and cozy card game with great monster summoning, cool attack animations, and a charming atmosphere. Building decks and battling feels really satisfying, and it’s exciting to see how much potential the game has!

I've been waiting for this game. Last night I suddenly found it uploaded on Steam and I immediately bought it at a special price. My first impressions are really good - it's a refreshing challenge - beyond traditional trading card concepts. It tells stories and has a storyline that engages the player and provides variety. There are card stores where you can buy new packs for duel points and competitions against other players or monsters that also offer surprises. The combat system is well thought out and interestingly designed so that it is easy to learn - but it is certainly challenging and varied. I am already a friend of the game and can recommend it without reservation to any fan of trading cards. The game has a lot of potential and I hope that the developers will expand and refine it in the future !

EDIT: The Dev has replied and stated that they released an update to address these issues. I had already refunded the game but will likely pick it up again later to test this out. Since these issues have been addressed by the dev, I will swap my review to "Recommend" as that was really the only gripe I had with the game. I like the concepts at play here. The battling is a little simplistic but has opportunity if the card effects are more flushed out. Vanilla monsters don't really seem to follow a clear curve and, aside from Champions, there doesn't appear to be much of a downfall to just throwing anything into your deck like a classical beatdown playstyle. That said, the only reason I cannot recommend this game currently is that many cards do not currently function the way they are written, and that is an absolutely critical point of any card game. "Recycle" has the tag "On death" which means that the effect should only occur when the card is destroyed. However, the effect occurs on the following turn regardless of the status of "Recycle". There are others that egregiously ignore intuitive interpretations of the mechanics and it simply feels like the battle mechanics were an afterthought and didn't have any form of quality assurance testing performed on them. If you happen to see other reviews or discussions that address this issue then the game is worth picking up even at the asking price of $20.

Really cool game, I like it a lot. It's what I have always wished from Yu-Gi-Oh! One thing I totally dislike: Everytime when you start a battle there is this fast rock-music. It makes me super nervous and I can't stand it. I rather disable the music entirely instead of listening to such fast music while thinking about what card I wanna play. <3

This is a really fun card battler that also has a card collecting system. The graphics are simple but stylized. I really recommend this game for anyone that enjoys card games. The only thing I will mention that needs improvement is the rate at which you collect cards, right now it takes a lot of money to get cards as each pack costs 300 of the game's currency and only contains 3 cars each.

It's a good 20 hours game if you have the funds to spare. The game actually have quite a few flaws here and there which I will list below later. I honestly wanted to put a thumbs down at first, but I decided not to as the devs are really kind and listened to a lot of my feedback. I also appreciate the devs trying to make a card game RPG which is quite niche in the current market. The good: -Music is nice. -No game breaking bugs as of latest update. -Make your own deck, buy your own cards the whole shebang. -Game is pretty easy from start to end. -Feels nice to play. The bad: -Lots of wrong card descriptions in the game. The devs are trying to fix this, but as of my latest playthough this issue was prevalent. -Game is pretty easy from start to end. -Lack of postgame. The worst: -Grinding is a hassle as the animations do end up being too slow. Should add a 2x or 4x speed multiplier somewhere. -No way to find out where to get a particular card if you happened to want it. -No way to find out what is inside a pack before you open them, so you literally have to waste lots of money to figure out the drops. -Too many ammons that just outright supersede other ammons in stats and abilities. For example, there's just no reason to use Cosmorak when you can just use Faith, who not only have better stats, even have a way better effect too. The game is littered with cards like these. Gameplay feedback: -Not much synergy between same element cards. I was expecting more when you have different elemental leaders going around, but it ended up not being that important in the grand scheme of things. -Outside of a few synthesis cards, majority of them are and remains useless no matter how I see it. They are simply not worth the CP cost. Even the AI tends to just throw away all their Synthesis cards for over channeling CP. -Defence mode ended up being useless. It's just not worth the cost. I've never once defended in the game. As a matter of fact, it could even be free and I probably won't use it. -Most overpowered card is Knightoes, Second most overpowered card is Faith. I know that a lot of what I said here may look bad, but if you temper your expectations, you will find yourself having a surprisingly enjoyable time.

The story is a little long winded and some of the card keyword mechanics are not clear, but this game has a lot of potential. -> It has a Pokémon Trading Card Game (Gameboy) or Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Duel Academy (GBA) vibe to it when building up your collection and decks while battling others. -> It is a unique blend of Hearthstone and Yu-Gi-Oh but with lane based battles. -> There is a side mode that uses cards to do Slay the Spire style battles; it seems optional but has unique card rewards.

Just not enough for the asking price. I actually hate to give this game a negative review because it's what I want from a video game card battler but it's just missing too much(At least too early) The beginning does not respect my time, I'm 3 hours in and it feels like I'm still in a "tutorial" It takes a good while to build of the currency for packs and Decks. The starting deck is very boring with spell cards that are near pointless. Pros: +The rules are straight forward and easy to learn. +Discarding to gain resources is helpful and makes the game more interesting +Deck building isn't a pain Cons: -It takes forever to build currency to buy new cards -It's too simple even after the first location. The cards don't do all that much -In the first two locations there is not a recurring way to farm currency to buy more cards. For the price, this game lacks a lot of content and takes too long to add variety and customization. It stretches out time played with the story and too basic game play.

First of all i like the direction this game is going and the idea of it, its simmilar to other cards games like yugioh only the game lacks a lot so far, its base is made out of card battles and void battles which are like this, - you discard cards to gain points to summon stuff, then you can summon a monster or several, max 3 they have hp and other stats and just decide to attack or defend, it is supposed to be a way to gather rare cards that arent sold, but the void gameplay feels really weird balance wise The good - cards actually summon monsters on top of the cards - cards have attack animations - cozy music, graphics the bad - card variety is lacking which impacts the gameplay a lot in the negative side - monster cards need more active or passive skills or you just end up using them as stat sticks - card effect description isnt correct for a lot of cards or is wrong or the coding for them is wrong - still a lot of bugs (black screen after battle, quest log is stuck and doesnt progress, etc.) - card balancing is required - after unlocking almost all the vilages i can say that most battles feel like im fighting the same guy over and over again (card variety and build issue as prior mentioned) - the enemies need to be at least somewhat rememberable, probably not by their looks or character because most of us just skip the conversations, but preferably by their deck like oh this is the guy with the storng defense, the goblin deck guy, the one who heals a lot, this one who has a lot of low level mobs who tries to rush me and so on, so you actually remember the fights but this again falls back to the card variety and balance. - difficulty feels the same ever since i started the game and after 5 hours it still feels the same (didnt lose a single match in 5 hours) maybe a smarter ai is needed for at least some enemies. - feels like card elements play no role in the game, just put whatever is the strongest in your deck and play anything you like in your deck with no restrictions - no character customization ( tho its not really needed but some people might want that) - magic, equip cards are really underwhelming, most of them dont work or cost too much to be relevant, i basically took them all out of my deck and my deck got stronger Even tho the game still needs a lot of work, im gona leave a positive review and hope that it will improove and get better in time!
