Love this game!! I related to the main character's struggle with self-esteem and trauma from family relationships. A great exploration of the concept of "love", and a truly unique take on The Little Mermaid.

TLDR; Understand the weight and impact of your choices when pursuing your desires. Experience feelings that may be relatable in this fantasy themed tale. Enjoy visuals and soundtracks that are both flowery and eerie alike. --- There are plenty of visual novels out there about love or romance but I felt this one with sincerity. Even though the story implies that you are trading your heart to have everyone else’s, they didn’t turn this game into an opportunity to build a harem or appeal to sexuality to gain an audience. I'm not saying that I don't support polyamory and I'm not shaming one's sexual nature. After all, I'm a woman of my own wiles. What I am trying to say is that we have plenty of visual novels that cater to those preferences. It isn't easy for me to enjoy romance games because some can make me feel like I'm about to experience something comparable to a reality show, choosing between a bunch of people in a televised drama. Rather, this visual novel seemed to have us ask about who pays the price for the exchange our main character makes with the witch, what love is and how others define it from their own point of view. For me, it was also about how to love someone the way they deserve rather than how you might have wanted to love them or how you might have wanted them to love you. The art is charming and unique in its own right. You know, too much color in my life usually causes me to quietly and internally spiral from over-stimulation to my eyes, but the pastels were so easy to look upon and scene transitions felt smooth. As for the story, the dialogue felt natural to read, even though the theme is fantasy. I never felt like there was too much information in the character backgrounds that could take us away from the main story, and I also never felt like I was left with questions about holes. I believe that you gain just enough insight about the main character to understand the life she lived. The music was fitting for the visuals presented; dreamy, eerie, pensive, serene. I couldn’t agree more with these sounds since even though the art is quite flowery, the theme should still be heavy to some degree in knowingly manipulating people’s lives. I know that there are multiple pathways you can take to get the achievements, but I have to say that I wouldn’t change a thing from my first play-through. I tried to be as authentic as I could with my choices. Although perhaps I will go back later to appreciate the other outcomes that show us the consequences of one’s actions. Besides, I really did enjoy the art of this game and I’m sure I’ll like to see the other perspectives that other people could have made that would have differed from my own. I noticed that the credits mention inspiration drawn from Hans Christian Anderson’s version– and original story– of The Little Mermaid. I’ve been grabbed by the heartstrings upon learning this because it was– and still is– one of my all time favorites. Though this game did not tell us that tale, the essence of sacrifices made for love ring the same. In this story, I sense the vulnerability of the other characters affected in the main character’s web that she hasn’t fully understood the weight of them being in, but you are left with the ability to help her see it through. Thank you, to the creators, for sharing this with us because I think I learned a little something about myself, too.

I must say that I didn't know exactly anything about the game, I just saw a post, looked at the art and fell in love with the game, I simply bought the game and started playing without thinking twice. And what a wonderful choice I made! Zero Sum Heart is perfect in every way, it's such a synergistic combination that I've rarely seen anything like it. The art is simply beautiful, something from another world, magical, a bit fantastic and alien and at the same time extremely nostalgic. When the game started and the first CG appeared in the bathroom stall I knew I had found something special. Continuing, even the UI complements all this magic, it's something very simplistic and mystical, when I need to praise even the UI of a visual novel it's because my fascination is real. The way you make choices is incredible! Most of the time the choices appear in the form of small gifs of the heroine and I simply loved that idea! I need animated stickers on Steam with the gifs of these heroine choices now!!! (please..) Because I love this game! Continuing... the OST is also very good! It completes the magic and mysticism of the game, it's the kind of OST that you'll collect to listen to later, it's calming and refreshing. And the character design is incredible! The themes for each character can be scary at first, but in a world of magic and witches, everything makes perfect sense, it's like my favorite children's shows! I simply love the design of the heroine, the witch, the mushroom girl, him and everyone! The game's plot is also extremely good! I love how the game throws you into this magical world without explaining anything beforehand, you simply accept it and then understand how this world works. Eu devo dizer que não sabia exatamente nada sobre o jogo, apenas vi um post, olhei a arte e me apaixonei pelo jogo, simplesmente comprei o jogo e comecei a jogar sem pensar duas vezes. E que escolha maravilhosa que fiz! Zero Sum Heart é perfeito em todos os pontos, é uma combinação tão sinérgica que poucas vezes vi igual. A arte é simplesmente linda, algo de outro mundo, mágico, um tanto fantástico e alienígena e ao mesmo tempo extremamente nostálgico. Completa a magia e misticismo do jogo, é o tipo de OST que você irá catar para escutar depois, é calmante e refrescante. E o character design é incrível! As temáticas para cada personagem podem assustar no começo, mas num mundo de magia e bruxas, tudo faz o maior sentido, é como os meus shows infantis favotitos! Eu simplesmente amo o design da heroína, da bruxa da menina cogumelo, dele e de todos! O enredo do jogo também é extremamente bom! Eu adoro como o jogo te joga no meio desse mundo mágico sem explicar nada antes, você simplesmente aceita e depois entende como funciona esse mundo. É uma medida bem ousada e que eu valorizo bastante, isso prende a sua atenção e estimula seus pensamentos, além de melhorar a fixação do enredo e personagens na sua mente. O enredo segue como um conto de fadas, qualquer um que adoro esse tipo de história terá um prato cheio aqui! Basicamente é como um tipo de fábula sobre o significado/valor do amor, a diferença entre amar e ser amado, os tipos de amores.
