The game was most exhilarating not only because of the vast amount of planets and solar systems to visit but the combat part of the game can be difficult but rewarding once you win. There are times when you will not receive the ability cards that you want thus encouraging you to improvise when needed. Even the selections of faction to join and the option to create a "pirate empire" is impressive. The only problems are that there are times when the enemy would receive unfair advantages such as an EMP ability that never misses or the enemy's space vessels are larger than your own and this can kill the pleasure in this game. The second problem is that the Smuggler's Guild DLC is not useful at all because even if you succeed in this DLC, you are required to pay a fee for owning a pirate base and that can kill you financially during the gameplay. Don't count on the income from the Smuggler's Guild to payoff the pirate base ownership fee. I would recommend this game to "hard-core gamers" but for those who are perfectionists or have a low frustration threshold, I would not recommend this game unless you play it on your cheap or old computer because then you can smash and swear at the computer without any guilt after you get blown up by your enemies when they are cheating.
