EVERSPACE™ 2 - Wrath of the Ancients DLC

The idea is really cool, but the execution.... The base game runs great, aside from some rare random glitches. I never really noticed performance issues. After beating the game, and deciding the DLC was worth getting, the game became a slide-show, nearly crashing in the same systems and areas I used to have no problem in. The DLC simply ruined an otherwise completely functional game. From what I read, it's do to a lazy port from UE4 to UE5, where they didn't bother to optimize the base game to be compatible, and just enforced resource hogging UE5 features that the game didn't need. I've never experienced a DLC ruining the base game experience to such an extent. Also, after a lot of digging, I couldn't find a way to fix the performance either. The devs are so uptight about their "design" that the game is so locked into these performance breaking features, that you need to either hack the game, or just avoid the DLC entirely. Aside from the barely playable frame rates, the DLC doesn't really offer a whole lot for the trade-off. The new systems only seem to serve as a means to max out equipment, the stat bonuses are barely better than Starforged items, and you only get 2 options per item type for new catalysts, which don't stack with the existing ones. The new charactors are interesting, but the story expansion is minimal, you can probably finish it in an afternoon, and it suffers from the same lazy enemy scaling, that despite being post-game content, you can blow through all the enemies like they're made of paper. I accidentally evaporated a boss in nearly one hit, and had to look it up to find out I missed the entire climax of the story arch, because the dialog never got a chance to play out. I get it when it's a regular enemy, but a Boss? How do you screw up a boss so badly that a regular player can just delete them on HARD difficulty? I didn't even have access to Max tier items yet, or their bonuses, just regular Starforged items. I guess the bottom line is, if you decide to get this DLC, be prepared for tanking performance, and assume any enemies will be push-overs, so if you want to enjoy whatever little plot there is, don't expect a challenge to slow you down.
