I bought this game because it was advertised as having "full controller support", but the support for my USB game controller was very disappointing. The D-pad is inverted, so up is crouch, the jump and fire buttons are the wrong way round so it is hard to fire while jumping. There is no way to un-invert the D-pad or remap the buttons. I wish I hadn't spent the money.

THIS GAME, FEELS LIKE, IT WAS MADE BY SOMEONE WHO HAS NEVER EXPERIENCED COOCHIE-IN THEIR LIVES. WHY WOULD YOU MAKE A GAME SO FUCKING DIFFICULT, FOR NO DAMN REASON. WHO THE FUCK MAKES "K" THE SHOOT AND "M" THE ITEM BUTTON. I HOPE TO VISIT WHOEVER MADE THIS GAME, AND SLAP THE ENTIRE LIVING SOUL OUT OF THEIR BODY PRETTY NICE GRAPHICS

Super hard, 1 hit=you're dead in addition to the mechanics which are stiff and feel like you're running witha guy with a broomstick stuck you know where... Tried to like it but not fun at all.

I was intrigued by this game when I first saw it and I decided to disregard the scores and give it a try, the controls left some things to be desired which I imagine was to invoke the spirit of games of old when honestly it doesn't take away from the experience if you make the game actually playable.

only played ten minutes but have to agree with some other reviews, no polish, controls somewhat resemble luigi from mario 2 except I felt like I had some control in smb2, slow firing combat, just missing most of the things that make platformers fun.

I brougth this game 2 years ago. Recently reinstalled it because sometimes I like to have access to a game I can easily pick up and put back down at any time, you know a game where you don't have to memorize combos, just something simple. Well, I started playing it and realized how bad this game, the game feels a bit stiff for my liking, enemies seem to have that almost perfect timing of hitting most the time if you don't slow your pace down, I should also add that because you can't remain stationary to make angled shots, you have a hard time trying to hit enemies in certain positions and weapon drops are a little scarce, so a lot of the time you'd just be using your default gun. Don't know if it's just me but sometimes the screen gets like a bit blurry/jittery, doesn't help that there doesn't seem to be any graphical options you can tinker around with. I went and had this game removed from my library.

I grew up during the 16 bita era and I love platformers, so I bought this game despite bad reviews. I have no trouble with the controls (using a xbox 360 game pad) the sound is good and the graphics are nice too. So far no crasches. The major problem is the diffcult. You die in one hit. I could accept if it was only for hits by bullets but when you cant event touch enemies and there is no melee attack I cant even run and gun. I have to watch every step or reply the level until I remember it, which takes away the fun factor for me. Overall the game feels unfinished but diffcult level makes it unplayable for me. Sadly, it looks cool on the screenshots. Perhaps I give it a new try later but this is how I feel for now. I would love if the developers removed "death on enemy touch" and added a melee attack.

First off I'm a complete sucker for 2D platformers, I absolutely love them. I adore the whole concept of them, which is why it hurts to give this game a bad review. Look, this game tried - at least sort of? Let me start off with what I did like about it: The one shot one kill idea. You take one hit you die, the enemy takes one hit they die. It's a cool concept and I found it to be quite entertaining. The guns. The guns were also great, and felt like they packed a punch. Aside from that though the rest just isn't very good. The environments are very bland. Every level looks very similar to the next. I can't speak for the later levels as I only finished the game about 20%, but the first fifth of the game at least all looks almost exactly the same. And that's a shame. Same with the enemies. They're also all the same, with a couple exceptions of a special enemy that takes like 3 hits to kill, the enemy type is almost identical through and through. The mechanics are pretty bad. You can't even aim diagonally without walking forwards or backwards, which makes the gameplay feel infuriating at times. The graphics menu is barebones and offers nothing to change ot tweak. In co-op when one person walks too far ahead, or one person is too far behind, the game kills you, taking one of your three lives to spawn you next to the other person. REALLY? Why not just make an invisible wall you can't walk through until the player catches up? - which brings me to my last point. The game DOES create an invisible wall that you can't proceed through; more than half the time, but ONLY when one of the co-op players has already died, lost all 3 lives, and cannot spawn the rest of the level. Which means if I'm still alive and I can proceed to beat the level, I actually can't. Because the game puts up an invisible wall. What a glitch. This is inexcusable, and all on its own has ruined the game for me. You can't release a game like this, in this condition and then ask $10 from people. It's not right. This game could have been really great with just a bit of polish and game testing. But since they decided to opt out on all of that, I can't recommend this game. 3.5/10

The first negative review I've written and certainly not something I take much pleasure in. Chaos Domain as has been mentioned by many reviewers is a return to the age old Contra formula, static 8 directional shooting (much like the sort a classic D-pad was meant for) with awkward platforming, enemies that can shoot you through platforms that are supposed to be solid objects and ridiculously slippy controls without all the fluidity of Contras double jumping, this game is best left on the wayside. For those of you like me, who don't own a 360 controller and don't necessarily see it as a requirement for games on a PC- don't get me started, the control scheme is a nightmare. I'm left handed and the standard controls are made with a right handed user in mind so you'll need to go through the borish task of arranging them to better suit you. The keyboard controls are poorly responsive and in a twitch shooting game where dozens of enemies might be shooting at you at once this is unacceptable. Now on to the basics, I played one mission- that's three sections of a map that are broken up to create a single mission- so three 'check points' as it were. The beginning of the game as you might expect has you running to the right- but not able to return to the left (!) to collect missed pick ups or kill enemies and has you repeat this process three times, all while being shot by enemies through floors and walls, ceilings and anything else they seem to teleport their bullets through, which would be forgivable if you didn't get three lives (and one continue on the easier difficulty per check point) and died when you were hit once. At the end of the first mission I was faced with a boss that is clearly a rip off of the loader from Aliens and other titles in the same franchise where it might well crop up. You are on a conveyor being dragged towards it while it fires either on a platform above it, or down the conveyor you are travelling on. You MUST hit it in the cockpit, meaning you need to be on the upper platform- not an issue, if not for the respawning guy on the platform above, lobbing grenades down at you that have an AOE far larger than is indicated by the explosion shown on screen. It was at this point I turned the game off, and cursed myself for even bothering to pick it up. I'm not going to list pros and cons for this, as I can't be bothered to do so. I'll simply offer my honest advice, keep your money, don't waste your time and don't waste a friends time- unless he/she and you are equally brain dead, by forking cash over for this half baked attempt at a classic and realized concept. Your friendship will swiftly end, your irritation will reach maximum levels in record time and your relatives will swiftly disown you if they learn you have this in your library.

This is a broken game and you should not waste your time on it, when I originally bought it, the game worked about 50% of the time and then you reach a certain point and the game completey stops, never to work again. The developers offer no support on the matter, so you should not risk spending your money on something that most likely will not work. In the event the game does work, it is still a pretty poor game, and not nearly as good as the original contra, which is sad, given that Contra is about 30 years old. Your main character is Anubis, althoug there is no story as to why or how that ties into Egyptian mythology, and you just run through the levels, which all look the same and fight the same looking enemies over and over again. It is very repetitive and the placement and attack patterns of the enemies do not induce that heart pounding tension that these types of games are supposed to produce. There is an upgrade system in place, where you can buy useless temporary upgrades and upgrade your terrible gun into a slightly less terrible gun, also power ups are few and far between, which means you will spend most levels armed with oonly your basic pea shooter, which further adds to the monotony of this game.
