Too linear, gameplay doesnt change throughout the game, just the car your in and the passengers, its all super linear. Great idea! Poorly executed. Amazing game art tho.
Alot of *Forced* Conflict too, not the best writing

Fun concept, boring execution. Thought it might just have a slow start but after playing for 1,5 hours, there's still nothing much happening. Characters feel stale compared to previous games, choices feel forced. Stations have no real purpose other than putting the same vendor on there, surrounded by a huge area of... nothingness. Gameplay is also way too linear. Quest A triggers Quest B, Quest B triggers Quest C and so on. That's basically all you're doing while occasionally peeking into some cabins or filing reports.

非常不推荐,玩法机制比较单一,和1、2比真的差了不是一星半点。

Unfortunately, the worst part of the trilogy – very short and not really replayable (except maybe for the different endings). Very linear, feeling more so than the other parts. You're welcome to take it during the sale, but not at full price. Too bad, missed opportunity. No Ultra Wide support and a maximum resolution of 2K.

Many references to older games from the series (which is great), feels like first beholder

I first picked up beholder a while back and i was hooked, but Beholder 2 terribly dissapointed me and i thought there would never be another good game because of the radio silience from the devs.
Well, to my surprise, there was another game. I finnaly bought it again this summer and i gotta say, it's quite good - in some aspects even better then the original!
I can see that devs turned back on their Beholder-2-misshap and began returning to the original gameplay loop of Beholder. Beholder 3 was sort-of it, but also something was lacking. Menawhile Conductor is hits just the right spot between being too "un-beholder-like" and too similar.
Ok, so:
PROS
- Interesting, average (for the most part) characters! Beholder 2 sucked because you were introduced to all these "important" characters who imo didn't feel important at all and were just forced onto you, same goes for 3, with it's painfuly average characters. But Beholder finnaly has some "average" characters who are fleshed out
- Finnaly returns to the basic gameplay loop of Beholder, which is great
- Plenty of easter-eggs and references to previous games
- A nice pixel artstyle, with great animations. The pixel arstyle fits the game quite well.
CONS
- While the characters are fleshed out, interactions with them are not. Sometimes the only interaction you'll get with a character is a line of dialouge with some lorebuilding, one quest, and a thank you.
- A lot of the quests are basic fetchquests or repetitive. I get it's the core thing of Beholder and not every person is thinking of something devious, but it's just... a bit bland. It's a bit of a personal opinion though.
- Characters and the protagonist are lacking lore, and would benefit greatly from some more. It wouldn't even need to be deep, just some basic slice-of-life gossip like in Beholder 1.
- Not enough endings! There's still a lot, don't get me wrong, but im a bit disapointed there's isn't more pro-state or character related stuff.
My opinion is that the ending segment should be focused on the main character, but it could also use some small sentences about what happened to the passangers, at least the important ones. That'd be cool.
Overall - it's a great step in going back to the roots of the series, and a very solid game the devs are still working on. While a bit bland at times, it holds up pretty well to my expectations. If i had to rate it out of ten, i'd give it a 7,5 or a 8.

People shit on this game for being more linear than the OG 3 games yet I find it really good. Beholder 2 remains my fav, yet this might be tied up with Beholder 1 (even tho i'm nostalgia biased for the first game).
If you liked the original trilogy, give this a shot. It's enjoyable and has some really memorable characters, and enough original mechanics for you to not get bored

Fun to play the first time, and has replay value. The only complaint of any kind is that it is hard to tell when you've reached a save point.

Loved it!
The story was on point. Similar game mechanics as before but still a bit different from the first and third which is a good thing. The second game is its own thing with its own mechanics.
The visual style was a nice change from the previous ones. The music was good, and the length of the game was just right, not too long and not too short.
If I had to rank all these games in order, it would be this: 1, conductor, 3 & 2. I liked them all but 2 the least because the game mechanics were really boring in that one.
