Good little story and a retro feel to the map dynamics. Complete in under 10 hours.

Its a simple but interesting game. I think if it had clearer scoring/progress checks it would be more fun, e.g. how many rounds have I done before losing, total amount of stuff earned, etc.

Short and sweet rogue-like puzzle city building game. I wish it was developed more as it leaves the feeling like there was something else planned. After the first two runs, the game loop becomes stale. I would recommend it but I would also give it a 6-7/10

Pretty Great! Combination of a roguelite, deckbuilder, citybuilder, and tetris. Has a great learning curve and interesting mechanics.

It's.... fine? I got it as part of a bundle, but I like deckbuilders so thought it would be fun to have.
The "choices matter" but only in the sense that you have to balance the resource values of 4 factions. I don't love having to make a decision because "I need to decrease the upkeep for this faction" rather than actually getting to make the decision I want. And the results of some of the decisions feel very random. I've picked the same option and had it give different results and I don't know why.
I'm going to finish it, but seriously considered just refunding it.

A great budget deck building puzzle game.
For those that are confused, this is a puzzle game and not a city builder. The city builder part is more an aesthetic element.
Your goal will be to arrange buildings in line with the narrative driven objectives.
Setting up buildings accumulates resources which pay an upkeep, but eventually the upkeep becomes too big and you have to start a new.
At the end of a run you earn new buildings you can pick up and use during the next run. A sort of roguelike element that makes future runs somewhat easier.
Its quite decent. The narrative, visuals and music(while limited) are nice as well.
As a budget game its well worth its asking price.

Techonotopia is a more narrative focused roguelike deckbuilder, once the story is done, the game's done, but that doesn't mean there isn't lots to love about it. The art direction, successfully achieving an art deco look and feel, coupled with the limited color palette make for a very readable experience.
Building the city is sort of like Tetris, as you'll have to create specific shapes to build specific structures, which will give you certain bonuses depending on the color also. Because of that, The game resembles Dorfromantik more than it does Slay the Spire or any other deckbuilder that might come to mind.
It's ultra chill, perfect for a calm weekend. If I were to recommend a tea flavor for it, I'd say cinnamon tea.

A very pretty game with not much going on under the surface. On the plus side - it's cheap, it's quick, and the cyber-deco-noir style is really beautiful. I wish more games looked like this. On the minus side - the story is basically non-existent, the city building is simple, and the achievement design is bad.
The gameplay consists of being dealt a small hand of three cards that represent buildings you can put down and trying to keep four factions above water points-wise by building stuff that gives them more resources, making their buildings more efficient at generating resources, and balancing events so that nobody drops below zero. Every week everything gets more expensive and eventually you'll fail. At the end you get xp with the four factions and get more stuff added to your deck of buildings. None of this is bad, it's not particularly great either. I found myself wishing I was just playing a game like Reus 2, which takes this same idea and does it so much better.
It took me about two hours to finish the "story" and another two hours to get all but one achievement. The final achievement requires you to get random events that let you give influence to the fifth faction that isn't represented on the board and only comes up every so often. I get the feeling I'll be playing as long again trying to get a run where I get the choice to give this faction enough influence for the achievements as it took me to do everything else put together at least.
My other main criticism of the game is that for as simple as it is, it explains almost nothing. What is coming next in the faction level ups, why I get certain events and not others, what exactly all the game terms mean, the game just doesn't want to let you know (you can guess a lot of it, but it's annoying to have to). The sort of advanced planning that more interesting builders take advantage of to keep you engaged isn't really possible here given how little you know about what's coming and how much of what you can do is based on what you draw and what flips as you expand the map.
It's cheap and pretty and will keep you entertained for a few hours, so if you're looking for that it's a good choice. If you're looking for anything more than that I would look elsewhere.
