Meh, a not very good TD game, mildly interesting. I will probably play it a gain, so I am going to give it a tepid one thumb up.
The game does lack most of the bells and whistles you expect from a TD game.
No way to speed things up.
No tower upgrades at all.
No tactical options.
No Strategic upgrades of any kind.
No fluff.I know that doesn't bother everyone, but it seems such a simple thing.
No pathing, again, not a big deal, but some people want to know.
The assets are fine, so small it is hard to really see what is going on. Some of them look far too much alike. (Looking at you, assassins and bombers) The monsters look pretty good though.
The game starts with only one tower for you to pick. This is every level, the same tower. As you gain experience new towers are automatically unlocked. The first level has five that you eventually unlock. The levels I have tried so far have one more for each. No clue what the max will be yet.
Perhaps the best aspect is the variety of monsters. Some are fliers which ignore the path, some spawn little versions of themselves when they die. There are a lot of different looks. Again, no index of them, an easy addition.
A pet peeve, this is one of those games that makes you collect the coins. Not a huge deal. At least so far the towers seem immune from dying. On the down side, they also can't be sold if you want to upgrade a position.
Another pet peeve is that it lies to you on occasion. Before each wave a few arrows show when monsters will spawn. Maybe, LOL. Most of the time it is right, so I assume this must be a glitch.
All in all, a lackluster edition to the genre, but mildly interesting.
As I previously said, one thumb up, but very tepid.
ADDENDUM: 3.2 hours, start to finish, ten levels. In the end, there are ten different units. Problem is, once you can start dropping tornadoes they overwhelm everything. On the final level, the last half of the waves were pointless. I would like to see that unit replaced with something else, or at least reduced in power significantly.
That said, I have enough fun to finish the whole thing, I think I paid a buck or two, got my moneys worth.
