Just saying, but I do have a curator page. If you somehow like my remarks about games, you can find more of them here: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44130985-TDP%27s-Gaming-Escapades
I like to play games that were released many years ago. Sometimes, I can find hidden gems; Games that are incredibly fun to play even after all these years. And sometimes, I find games that are so problematic and/or badly made that I cannot bring myself to put more time than what I already have into playing them. Explodemon is a game that belongs to the second group. The first thing that you will notice by playing Explodemon is how bad the technical performance is. The PC port of the game is filled with technical issues, many of which affect the game in a negative way and might even force you to quit playing it. This is an utterly barebones and bad PC release. This game has no controller support (despite originally being a PS3 version and even having a gamepad settings menu), no way to activate a windowed screen mode, does not respect the settings enforced on it by wrappers and tools such as DxWnd and does its own thing anyway, might not correctly show you the list of available resolutions for your system, and runs so badly that constantly stutters or even freezes momentarily at random intervals regardless of how beefy your PC is. Not only those, it also has sound playback issues that make it impossible to go through the game using headphones, without potentially hurting your ears. The volume levels for stereo sound playback are uneven, with the right channel having noticeably higher volume than the left. Some of the sound effects, such as the one the plays whenever you get off a pressure plate are very loud and/or even have a screeching noise to them, to the point I quit the game fearing I would damage my hearing if I continued playing. And I am not kidding about that final part; My right ear was really starting to hurt. And the game itself? It's nothing to write home about. The game tries its damnedest to add humor to every single piece of story and dialogue, even when it interrupts the gameplay to inform you of new upcoming hazards, yet fails miserably. None of the jokes landed for me and had me rolling my eyes at the dialogues, especially the ones uttered by the main character. The gameplay is also very mediocre and unsatisfying. While the game has a neat idea, the uninteresting level design and the uncertainty of how interactible objects behave while solving puzzles can quickly burn you out. There's also a mechanic which causes the main character to self-explode if you don't do it yourself for a set period of time, which I strongly believe there was no need for it as it adds nothing to the experience. If you want a game like this, Ms. Splosion Man seems to be the better alternative here. Explodemon is just a mediocre, unsatisfying platformer with a poorly-handled PC port and loads of technical issues that have severely damaged the experience, enough to make one want to quit it ASAP.
